I don't know who else to ask, so obviously you bees are the most logical choice.  Since Sunday I have had the itchiest skin in the weirdest places, and it's driving me so crazy I have been in tears.

I wake up in the middle of the night with an itchy face, burning hands and feet, and am itchy in weird places, currently my armpit, a shoulder blade, etc.

The places on my face are a little noticeable, red and slightly raised up.  Some of the itchy places have long swollen lines that go away, and they aren't from itching or scratching, they are swollen before I itch.

I am stumped.  I thought dry skin, so have been moisturizing with my normal lotions, but it's not helping.

Any ideas? If it doesn't help I might have to go to the doctor, silly as that sounds.

This is going to sound bizarre but I am going to say it anyway - call your local water treatment company.  The EPA just changed what chemicals they can put in the water so this year, when the cities changed their antifreeze into the systems there are totally different chemicals.  Your skin may be sensitive to them.  We have to put a special filter on our water or "winter water" will put DH on allergy meds all winter, so we opted for the filter.

You aren't pregnant are you? My cousin had this issue when she was pregnant so sorry that was the first thing I thought of. It was because her liver was working harder than normal. I would maybe even jot down everything you have ate or drank in the past couple of days and see if there is a common element. You body changes every 7 yrs so it's not uncommon to develop an allergy to something you weren't allergic to before.

@tksjewelry: Hmm, that's interesting! I will do that! I keep showering thinking because it is the only place I haven't been itching, but if that's it, that might be making me feel worse.  Thanks for the tip! It doesn't hurt to ask.

@roxy821: No, I'm not pregnant.  That's interesting about your cousin though! Bodies are so strange!

The allergy idea is the only thing that is making sense to me.  I will try making a list of the past few days and see what stands out.  DH thinks I should get a referral to an allergist if it doesn't go away in the next few days.

Kind of random, but a new spot on my shoulder started to itch, and when I reached to scratch it, I felt that it was raised.  I went in the bathroom to look, and it is 3 little lines that are raised in a row....so weird. Very swollen and noticeable.  Sigh.

Sounds like hives that have been scratched. I was 16 when I developed an allergy to strawberries and I am no longer allergic as of about 2 yrs now. I would suggest getting benedryl asap.

@roxy821: I bought some Benadryl on Sunday and it doesn't seem to do much for me, at least not yet.  I am getting ready to take another dose, since DH and I are headed to a hockey game.

Regarding the spot on my shoulder, the weird part is I haven't scratched it.  It wasn't there when I took a shower, and DH and I just got home and I just took my gloves off.

@Lindsay12.31.2010: Lines are bad, CALL YOUR DOCTOR!  Do not pass go, do not collect $200, Call your doctor!  Lines are a symptom of blood poisoning.  Call your Doctor.
