I wish I could carry but I live in Canada.

midlifewoops:  We don’t have any handguns at the moment, just a shotgun. But a friend of mine (female) has a Walther PPK and I tried it out at the range recently and loved it, nice and small. I really want one for myself someday.

midlifewoops:  Currently I carry a Ruger LCP 380 and I like it. It’s small and compact and I feel comfortable handling it and carrying it. Probably the only negative is that because of the size, you have to be careful not to get your fingers pinched by the barrel and there’s not a lot of weight to counteract the recoil, so you do have to practice with it to get your aim right and steady. I also prefer the 380 ammo, however, I think it has a little more kick back than a 9 mm because it’s basically the same firepower, just in a smaller package than the 9 mm.

My dad carries a Walther PPK 380 and really likes it as well. And I do too – it will probably be the next purchase (that or the PPS, which has a slightly slimmer profile than the PPK).

FI has small hands, and for our engagement I got him a Kahr K9. He really likes it. He reports it’s a little heavier and larger than some other carry pistols, but it’s still a compact pistol. The size makes it easier to grip, and the weight helps with recoil. Those were his words. I’m just a messenger :).

He also recommends this website for trigger reach (distance from backstrap to trigger). Hope this helps!

midlifewoops:  I don’t carry (because I don’t have my permit yet) but I own a Smith & Wesson .38 special model 442 hammer-less revolver. It’s the Airweight model so it’s very light. Hardly any kickback, small and easy to hold, and very easy to load. The trigger is pretty stiff, which I consider a positive quality as it will only be pulled intentionally. Seriously I love my gun.

s2bmrscook:  midlifewoops:  I have the same S&W .38 special airweight and I LOVE my handgun as well! I also have extremely small hands (like the size of pixies I swear) and that gun fits great!  I would recommend going to your local gun store and talk to the sales people and try out a few… It’s all in the feel!

PS- This thread makes me happy to see more lady bee gun owners!!

Soonerbee07:  that is a gorgeous gun!

I currently don’t carry but every time I go to Florida I go shooting with him. I hate their 9mm bc It pinches the back of my pinky. I really like their 40 caliber. I’ve also shot his AR-15 & that thing is RIDICULOUS! I had pictures of it but I think they were on my old phone. . .which means they’re lost in my cloud lol.

midlifewoops:  sig p238 .380. It’s small, and I have small hands so it’s perfect. It’s like a compact 1911

a Springfield XDM compact .45  I love my gun’s extended mag for shooting practice but normally if its being carried, just using the 9 round mag is sufficent and comfortable.

Don’t carry because I go almost no where but work and can’t carry there but DH has a high standard 1911 and a citadel com pact 1911, both .45. I have huge man hands and prefer the not compact 1911 but am not a huge fan of the .45 cause even the larger one kicks pretty hard. I also ALWAYS have the worst issues with semi autos jamming on me. I swear it’s a curse. So eventually if I do start carrying I will find a revolver I like. Personally best thing for us was to just go to a gun show where lots of dealers with lots of types will be and pick them up. My dad has a Taurus 9mm (not sure what model) that I love shooting because it is just the right size and I can control it well.
