Anyone have some favorite stores for Business Attire (suggestions for business casual are welcome, but really looking for business “professional”) for a style to suit someone in their mid-20s? I’d like to spiff up the wardrobe a little bit but I don’t want to get clothes that may come across as matronly either.

I really like Express for their dress pants and tops that aren’t too pricey. Anthropologie can also have a few cute pieces to wear under suit jackets.

Ohh and H&M is a good place to look for trendy but appropriate tops that you only want to wear for a couple of months (throw-away clothes).

The Limited is my favorite for work clothes. Sign up for their emails and you’ll get some good coupons!

You’re in Canada right? Or am I thinking of someone else?
My favorite stores for work clothes are RW&Co. and Ricki’s. I also like Smart set!!

I like banana republic- but that can get expensive pretty quickly. They have tops that can be work friendly as well as skirts and suiting dresses. Some of J Crews stuff is on the casual side, but I like some of their stuff too.

I love Banana Republic, Gap, Express, Ann Taylor Loft and The Limited for my classic pieces. (pants, skirts, sweaters, blazers, dress shirts)
I shop at Charlotte Russe, Target, and Forever21 occasionally for fun tops and layers.

New York and Co and H & M, The limited has great options but its a lil too pricey for me. Ive actually had a lot of luck finding awesome business suits from goodwill.

I like Ann Taylor Loft. Great clothes at a great price!

NY&Co and Banana Republic for me. Catch BR during sales and you can get awesome deals. Their stuff is also REALLY high quality so it will also last you a long time. I get all my dress slacks at NY&Co because their long length slacks are the ONLY ones I fit.

Some great suggestions, thank you guys!
I am going to try and look into some of the outlets this weekend (JCrew, Jones New York) and then maybe go to the mall and see what Ann Taylor and H&M have, I haven’t been in either in a while.
@OttawaBride2011: Close to Canada but not in it. 🙂

Ann Taylor seems to have sales A LOT (like, I very rarely go to the mall where they are, and everytime I go, they are having a sale!) – their quality seems pretty good, and while they do have some matronly stuff, they have a lot of basic pieces, and usually some cute sweaters and dresses too.
I LOVE the fitted button down tops at Express – the fit is very flattering, and they are super soft and comfy.

I work with a personal shopper at Nordstrom who is about my age (mid 20s), and she does a GREAT job. Every day when I come to work, at least one person compliments me on my wardrobe. And, our office manager even told me that she wants her daughter (who is my age) to dress like me at work! The personal shopper is free, btw, and there is no minimum that you have to spend.

I buy probably 60% of my work clothes from Jcrew. This is because they have great style and quality (for the most part) and carry petites. Banana is really hit or miss, the style is a little too funky sometimes and quality is not as good as Jcrew. But Banana is constantly having 30% off sales, so I always stop in and at least buy a couple things, even if it’s just a cardigan and tank top.
Ann Taylor is good every once ina while for some pants or a top here or there, but I think the accessories are overpriced, esp their shoes. I don’t like Ann Taylors suits, they look too matronly IMO.
I recently had some success with Elie Tahari at Bloomingdales, but keep in mind her stuff is SUPER expensive. But way better quality than I have experienced anywhere else and of course great cuts and very stylish. To this day I have still never been able to fit into anything from Theory, they must use the strangest fit model in the world, definitely not designed for a womans body.
I agree about Anthropogie having cute tops to wear with suits, I esp like Leifsdottir which they carry quite frequently (also available at bloomies).
For shoes I buy tory burch flats, calvin klein and cole haan pumps (love the nike air).

Newport News & Spiegel often have really cute suits and nice dresses, Express, H&M. Macy’s & Dress Barn have nice suits and they often have sales. I would definitely invest in a couple of nice suits and then you can mix and match them with inexpensive shirts and blouses.
