Ha ha. Yes, rainbows and unicorns for me. I had a copper iud and the string had gone up into the uterus (I can't imagine someone expelling one of those and not knowing it). Anyway, not embedded or anything bad. I just had to go in (after taking a nice big vicodin-love those opiates!) and they went and got it right out. Didn't hurt or anything after-just a little woozy from the drugs. Then they just put another right in. I'm sure it will go fine. They might even be able to "tease" yours out without having to go the same route as I did. Good luck :)
I can never feel the strings on mine. The doctor said it was fine and everything was ok. I hope its the same for you.

I had an appointment today to have my Mirena IUD removed. The doctor went up in my business and couldn't find the string. With this one (it's my second Mirena), the string has always been difficult to feel, and I'll admit that I haven't tried in a while. However, I'm 99.9% certain that I didn't expel it on my own. I'm going tomorrow for an ultrasound, so they can try to figure out where in the world it ended up. But I'm really scared of the worst case scenarios - embedded in my uterine wall, migrated out into my abdominal cavity, etc. Has anyone else been in this situation? Did everything turn out rainbows and unicorns?
