I would put your stuff into storage like a POD (so that it can be stored for a few months and then delivered to you) and get a month to month furnished rental or an extended stay rental and plan to be there for a month or two so you can explore the neighborhoods.
It kind of sucks because you have to live out of a few suitcases for clothes, while everything is in storage, but it allows you to find the right neighborhood, the right apartment at the right price, make sure the commute is right etc.
This is what we did when we moved across country and I think it worked great

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I just accepted a position in miami to start next July. We'll probvbaly end up needing an apartment June 1 because our lease runs out here on May25th, and we are definitely not looking to buy anything as we'll most likely only be staying in the area for a year.
I am so overwhelmed. Miami is gigantic and I know nothing about the neighborhoods or how much I should expect to pay for a safe, clean 1-2 bedroom apartment. Does any one have any tips on how to go about looking for a place? We plan to fly down in march to see some places but i'd like to look around online and set up some appointments.
Thanks!
