Old style. Makes me think of Friends with what's her face and her handfulls of rings. I see a lot of "older" ladies wearing them in un-matching stacks.
@2ndtime: I don't get why people put that multiple rings on to begin with. Before I got engaged, I maybe wore two rings, one on each hand. When a friend got married, she had a few rings on right hand, a bracelet, and her engagement/wedding band set. It felt like way too many accessories to wear at a time.
I don't get it. I have several right hand rings, but I wear them one at a time. I can't even make myself wear a few on the same hand... Lol. I'm guessing it's this generation trying to emulate the old generation and calling it a "new trend." I do know several older ladies that, it seems, wear their entire jewelry box.
Though it isn't my preferance, I can understand a ring on every finger. What I don't understand is stacking them up where they are twisting all over the place and competing with one another.
My mom does this. Not as crazy as your photo, but she generally has a ring on about 6-8 of her fingers at a time (yes, even on her left hand next to her wedding ring).
It's just her style and she's been wearing rings like that for decades. She says she feels naked without a lot of rings.
@2ndtime: My sister wears her rings like that on BOTH hands. lol & She is only 16! But whatever floats her boat. :P My mom wears several as well, but not as many as the photo you posted. I don't, I always wear my wedding set & then sometimes a right hand ring.
I think this is definitely more common among the 40+ crowd. I'm not a fan. I did used to wear a lot of rings (like up to 8 at a time) but each ring had its own finger. When I see people with a lot of rings (but not stacked) I don't think they're necessarily older just probably more artsy. I don't wear hardly any jewelry now. My ering/wedding band and earrings every day. If I'm all dressed up maybe some bangle bracelets. I rarely wear a necklace and I never wear other rings anymore. But mostly bc I don't have any that seem nice enough next to my e-ring. If I got a nice right hand ring I might wear that for special occassions.
i only like wearing one ring at a time. aka my engagement. no righthand rings nothing!
I wear my ering and wedding bands on my left hand and a cheap sterling silver ring on my right hand because I am used to wearing a ring there. I'd feel naked without something there. I may change the ring on my right hand to match a fancy outfit on the rare occasions I wear a fancy outfit.
I guess it's all about what you're used to.
Oh geez this is terrible but my response looked very similar to this gif.
ETA: which I can no longer see as it now says bandwidth exceeded, so if anyone else can't see it, it's a very shocked/creeped out face. Which doesn't sound nearly as funny as it looked. *sigh* technology...
@CorgiTales: Can we make that 50+ crowd please? :) I'm 40 and I wouldn't be caught dead with that many rings on my fingers! When the picture appeared my reaction was "YEEESH" and yes I said it outloud. I wear my e-ring and only my mother's ring (kids birthstones) on my right hand. I'm not a fan of a ring on every finger nor multiple on one finger unless iit's a stackable or wedding set.
I know there are a lot of people who love wearing more than one ring on each finger of each hand. There are even quite a few right here in the hive! Even though I personally don't like the look, it looks alright on some people. The right person with the right attitude can rock anything!
A small question: How do some ladies wear 3 or 4 bands around their ring fingers? I've read some post that they would wear an engagement ring, wedding band, anniversary ring, and eternity band all on the same finger. It looked like their ring finger couldn't bend!
Just Curious :]
Personally not my style, but I use my hands a lot, and don't like too many things on them. Only have my wedding ring/e-ring on and occasionally a ring on my right hand. I think if done properly it looks good!
I remember in hisgh school people would wear 3 to 4 rings on each hand.....i never got it. i might wear one on each hand.
they look too crowded......and although they may be lovely rings, this makes them all look like lucky-bag junk.
less is more IMHO
until i wore my E ring i had just a right hand ring. i have quite a few right hand rings but only ever wear one at a time......
I'm generally a "less is more" kind of person, myself... but whatever floats your boat!
when i was in middle school i wore a lot of rings, but limited myself one per finger! NOw I never wear another ring on my left hand (i think it would take attention away from my ering and band) and one on the right that i occasionally switch out. that picture is way too much!
I do it, but I try to do it tastefully. for example, a chunky silver & amber (or turquoise) ring on my ring finger, and a very plain silver band on my pinky and thumb. together, I think they look good. but they all coorindate, and 2 of the 3 rings are small and understated.
however, I can't stand the mismatched-rings-on-eight-fingers look. my mom does it and I think it makes her look nutty.
Not my taste, but I don't really care how many or how little rings people wear.
Definitely not my taste, but to each their own I guess.

A lady I work with wears several rings on one finger. Individually I think they are all beautiful, but all piled up together, not so beautiful IMO. I'm not talking about the stackable rings. I think those are cute. I'm talking 2-3 right hand rings on one finger and then 2-3 on another finger. Some are sideways because they can't all face up piled on top of one another. Kind of like this.
Is this the new style, or maybe the old style? Am I out of style? Help me understand.
