- Wedding: June 2013
Not wedding related at all, but definitely adds on to all the other stress that is there.
I teach in the inner city, and am well aware that it isn’t the greatest area–there is a meth lab right behind my room so I can’t open my windows and we have to keep our doors locked at all times for multiple reasons. However, I put my entire heart and soul into trying to make our classroom a “safe place” where my students want to come.
This morning, I walked into my room to discover that my back window was shattered and there was glass everywhere. They didn’t take anything (because there was nothing of real monetary value to a thief), but knowing that some deviant was in there angers me.
We are in the middle of state testing–plus, the wedding is about a month away and we are moving cross country 2 weeks after the wedding. I have been on the edge of a mini-meltdown and I feel like this pushed me over.
Spending my morning cleaning up glass and then having to explain to my students why the window was missing was not how I wanted today to go. Plus, our safe place was violated.
What the hell is wrong with people?!
