@mightywombat: YAY!!!!
I can understand COMPLETELY about having an FI out of work and how they feel about it. My FI was out of work for over two years despite applying constantly for jobs. He's finally full-time with benefits.
Congrats on the new job!!!! And keeping fingers crossed he lands a permanent full time position there!!!!
That's wonderful!! My husband's been out of work for almost a year, so I understand the hardships. So happy for you guys.
@TheFutureMcBride: Ugh, that's awful. I'm sorry. I understand how draining (financially, emotionally) that is. I'll keep my fingers crossed that he finds something soon.
Congratulations! I remember when my unemployed FI finally got his job (we were just out of college in a terrible market) - Elated isn't even the word for how we felt. So happy for you!
What a relief this must be for both of you! Congratulations to him! This is fantastic!
Yay! I totally get how he felt. And I'm sure you guys could always getaway for a weekend or so, until you are able to go on a real honeymoon. Yay!
WOW the first part of your post sounded exactly like me and my FH. He finally got a job and I wasn't too happy because the pay was just OK and there were no benefits. However, now I'm afraid my lack of excitement at that may have bit us in the behind cause we are back to square one :(
I know how hard out of work can be so I wish you both the best!!! It may not be the best job but it is a job and never know, it can lead to even better things right?! :)
that is so exciting, congratulations to him :) I hope my FI can get a job soon!
Yay!!!! Congrats -- that's such a relief and encouragement I'm sure!! What are you going to do to celebrate??

Bees, it has been months. We were starting to get anxious about money; his sense of worth was falling apart. This job isn't perfect, but it's a JOB!! It's a temporary full time position, iwth the possibility of becoming permanent in four months. They pay is good, although there aren't benefits unless/until he becomes a regular employee. But thank god for Massachusetts, because he can have health insurance through the state until then.
It's such a relief, too, that it happened before the wedding. He was dreading having to face all these people while being unemployed. The only downside is we're not sure if he'll be able to get time off for our honeymoon. But if necessary we can delay that. It's more important that he has work.
I know I've talked about this on the Bee before, and I just want to thank everyone who was so supportive and encouraging when I worried nothing would ever come through.
