- Wedding: December 2010
I posted this first in the Lounge, but only got one response – I thought I might find more help in the “Decor” board. My apologies to those who are reading it for the second time…
Bees, I need help! My stepdaughter is turning 16 in July, and I’m helping her mom plan a Sweet 16 party. She’s a huge country music fan. I’m pretty creative, but I’m more “beach” than “country,” so I’m looking for some ideas & inspiration. Here’s what we’ve got so far:
– We’ve booked a cabin at a local park that has a country feel to it (pics below). We’ll have it from 5:30 to 10:30 on a Friday night; party will be 6:30-10 p.m. (leaving one hour for setup; half hour for final clean up).
– Serving BBQ for dinner, approximately 7 p.m. – maybe pie for dessert? Root beer/cream soda/orange soda/lemonade for beverages?
– Arranging a hayride through the park after dinner (around 8pm) for the teens; adults will use that time to clean up the food, rearrange the room and turn it into a CW “line dance club.” Looking into having a dance instructor give line dance lessons from 8:30-10.
– Maybe also set up a faux-to booth with western props?
I’m looking for affordable ideas for room decor, table settings, centerpieces, favors, and any other fun touches we can throw in without big expense. Also, do you have any feedback on the plan above? What am I missing? Thanks in advance!
Here’s the venue (sorry the interior shots are dark!):
