A totally NWR question that my friends/family seem to be all over the place on (and none of them are in the medical field!)
I deeply cut my knuckle with a kitchen knife last week (Saturday to be exact). Stupidly, I didn’t go to the ER since it finally stopped bleeding and took care of it myself. That Monday I went to the doc and he gave me a liquid stitch. No fever or sign of infection and he said I’d actually done a good job of cleaning and wrapping it.
Anyway, it’s been over a week and it seems to be healing nicely, the wound closed and I’m finally getting mobility back even though it’s sore, but it’s still very swollen and hard. My knuckle is all puffed up and still very sore to the touch, could it be infected? I don’t want to be an alarmist and go back to the dr but I also don’t want to ignore it if there’s a problem. Shouldn’t the swelling have gone down in a week or does this seem normal?
