I keep going back and forth about getting a Wii U for Christmas. DH and I have a Wii gaming system, but I’m noticing that fewer games are being made for the Wii. The ones that I would be wanting are made for the Wii U. Does anybody have one and care to talk about the pros and cons of it? Specifically, on any of these topics:
– What are some of the features it has that make it worth it over the Wii?
– How often do you use the TouchPad while playing games? Is it easy or difficult to use?
Basically…I’m a big fan of the Mario games, so that’s a big reason why I want to upgrade. There are also some downloadable games that have caught my interest. Any advice for or against the Wii U is much appreciated! Thanks!

@keepsmiling19: My husband (who works in the games industry and is a huge gamer) won’t even buy the wii u. He thinks it’s a waste of money and for a console that people buy just to play mario? He’s had enough. BUT on the other hand, one of my best girl friends and her husband LOVE the wii u and have such a good time with it. She says that they use the touchpad quite a bit. So there’s the two ends of the spectrum for you! I think it just depends what type of games you guys like to play. 🙂
All that being said, I think a Wii U sounds like an awesome gift for your husband!

I have one of the old wiis, but I will not be upgrading to a wii U, and my boyfriend agrees with me.
-There is not much third party support, that is, for games other than Nintendo, that would show up on and xbox or Playstation.
-There is little graphics jump. It is going to be way behind the newer xbox and playstation models. The graphics will only be slighty better than what the current playstation and xbox are now.
-There is no internal hard drive
-Weird controller setup, you only get one touch screen, maybe two, but then everyone else has to use a remote…
-its really expensive for what it is.
