@mu_t:  Are you looking for actual boots for horseback riding, or for fashion? I know my riding boots are sold with a calf measurement I can check the brand when I get home

What kind of riding? Motorcycle? Horse? Dirt bike?

Zappos! You can filter the search by calf circumfrence!

I have the opposite problem. Every pair of boots I try on are all rumpled around the calves and ankles. It’s the very rare, and usually expensive, pair that even comes close to fitting me. And the elastic almost every manufacturer puts in them is ugly and doesn’t help my problem. Frustrating!

If they’re real leather, a shoemaker can stretch them for you….I’ve done that with several pairs of coach boots. I believe there us also some trick you can do with wool socks and a hair dryer….I seem to recall seeing it on pinterest.

@mu_t:  Ahh, I’ve got legit riding boots that come up past my knee, they don’t quite look like the fashion ones.

If you have access, try Tender Tootsies brand. They’re the only brand I have found that fit my fat calves!

Try Lane Bryant, they have cute boots right now.  I purchased some for myself.

@Eckle:  Hahaha I was thinking horseback riding too- I was going to suggest Ariats 😉

As for fashion boots- I find if I shop even slightly higher end, they generally fit better. Aldo has never worked for me. I have a great pair of Rockports (snagged at Winners) that are awesome though!

+1 for Zappos, not even for the calf circumference thing (which is awesome, I didn’t know about that either!), but they have a GREAT return policy with free shipping and everything.  Good luck!!

@mu_t:  I can relate.. it sucks. All these cute riding boots or slouchy boots are so tight on me, nevermind trying to wear them over a pair of skinny jeans!! I did find a pair at Charlotte Rouse (a store that’s probably geared to the 20-25 yr old range, but whatever). They fit over my calves and even look a little loose the top, which was the look I wanted.
