My daughter will turn 5 on September 20th. The cut off for kindergarten is September 30th. I’m really torn on whether or not to start her in school. She is very willing to learn. She currently goes to daycare where they have a kindergarten readieness program in which she has been enrolled in for a year now. She’s just so young! The friends she gravitates to are all 18 months to two years older than her so I feel like mentally she can handle it. She would be 17 going into college. What would you do? Anyone have a late birthday and struggle? Her Dad and I are both normal intellegence if that makes sense. Didn’t struggle and didn’t excel beyond everyone else. Thanks In Advance!!

@TequilaSunrise: Go for it! FI’s birthday is September 18th and he was 17 when he graduated. =) he thought that was pretty cool to be honest.

I started kindergarten early, my birthday is Sept 15th, so I graduated when I was 17 too! It never bothered me, I always did well in school. Although I did have to get special working papers after I graduated high school so I oculd start working full time before I turned 18! 🙂

My bday is September 21 so I was always among the youngest in my class. I was a pretty independent 4 yr old so as long as you think she has the personality to cope with going to school I say go for it. No issues graduating high school at 17.

My birthday is September 10th and my parents waited (so I was always the oldest in my class). I hated it! I was always so bored and all my friends were in the grade above me. I’d definitely say start her in school now. If it really wasn’t working out you could always pull her out and start her next year.
