I have VERY curly red hair. I have also had pretty much the same haircut for 10 years. (not long, not super short- a little above shoulder lenght). It’s not that I HATE my current cut, I’m just bored with it, and (maybe) ready for a change. I’m so sick of my hair right now I’m ready to go all “Felicity” on it. (ok… that’s too extreme for me, obviously, but you know the feeling?)
Anyway, 90’s TV references aside, I just worry because I have seen some really BAD short curly haircuts. I don’t want to look like a poodle, or like I belong in the 80’s, or like the little red-headed girl. (which, oddly enough, is almost EXACTLY what I looked like as a child)
Does anyone have a picture/ idea for a short curly haircut that is cute and not dated?

I don’t have any photos, but my advice would be to seek out a stylist who specializes in curly hair. It really is a totally different skill set to cut and style curly hair versus straight hair and many stylists just are not good at it.

I have curly hair and this is one of my go to styles when I want shorter hair:
Of course in real life it ends up being a bit poofier (depending on your curls). But it’s a good shape and easy to style, looks good straight to if you like to switch it up.

I can’t wait until after the wedding so I can chop some length off my curly hair. Here are a few cuts I’ve been considering…
Sorry for the giant pictures!

@delovely13: I curled my short red hair using this inspiration photo. I liked the way it looked. I curl my hair all the time. My hair is not naturally curly, but I think if you section and curl (curly hair) you can achieve a different look for yourself? Not sure but worth a try! Have Fun!

@delovely13: here’s the style I’m currently rockin’. Lots of layers!

My good friend has very red, very curly hair. She got a chin-length bob about a year ago and LOVES it and swears she’s never going to go back. She looked at Pinterest for inspiration — I suggest trying there for pics!

These were my inspiration pictures from getting a long-ish bob. I wear my hair both curly and straight so it’s important to me to have a cut that looks good either way. My stylist did the cut so it just barely skimmed my shoulders(terrifying as a curly girl who always kept her hair long enough to put in a ponytail just in case). I ended up loving it and can’t wait to cut it back to this style after my wedding. Hope you find a style you love!

I have insanely curly hair…chopped it short once and it looked terrible… How curly is your hair? I’m not AA but when I cut my hair short people were asking why I had an Afro… That bad

Why don’t you relax the curl ? That would be a major change. Maybe change the shade of red slightly, tone it down a bit so it’s more “grown up” (weddings are grown up after all 😉
Then get a glossing treatment which will give it major shine for your wedding.
