Yeah it is blowing pretty bad, but nothing compared to some of the storms last year. I think we had a couple of really light winters in the past few years. I remember getting storms like this all the time as a kid and it wasn't really a big deal.
@mrskesslertobe: The funniest thing is, I don't remeber them ever being this windy/blowy. And I'm born and raised in Green Bay, but I have lived all over the state after graduating.
You're probably going to hate hearing me say this, but I consider you guys lucky. I have my fingers crossed for snow sometime soon. I live in Maryland where snow isn't a very common thing (last year's heavy snow was totally out-of-ordinary and totally welcomed by me). I come from Upstate NY where I'm so used to having snow on the ground by now so I'm a bit eager.
I'm loving the weather, simply because Friday was my last day of work at my crappy retail job. I normally work every Sunday, early. This weekend, I can stay home and enjoy the snow from inside! =D
Please send a little down my way! I just saw on FB that my pals in Atlanta got a few snowflakes, but nothing here. :(
Good luck with your extreme weather, be safe, but please post some pics of that pretty white stuff, lol!
Haha gotta love the whole "northern living" thing hey?
Last week we got 2 feet of snow in less than eight hours, and this friday we had another 8inches of accumulation between 5pm and 10pm, usually I stay indoors, but we were on the highway in white-out conditions (no fun!).
It makes for lovely scenery though!
Stay safe & warm :)
Im also jealous! Last year we had 2 winter storms where we got dumped with a crap ton of snow (3 ft) and we had off from work for an entire week! Right now its raining and I wish it was snow because then I would be able to work from home if I couldnt make it to work!
I grew up in the Poconos and the schools there NEVER called off when I was growing up. Several times, we had to be taken home by snowmobiles! I have had my fill of snow, if I NEVER saw snow again, it would be ok by me!
A friend of mine lives in Saint Paul and her husband got stranded across town after work. She couldn't get the car out to pick him up and the buses weren't running.
It's been drizzling here in Pittsburgh, but they're saying snow tomorrow. DH is from Rochester, NY; he's been dying for a snowstorm.
We had a crazy storm last week that lasted for three days straight (seriously, it was a non-stop blizzard for 72+ hours). We received about 120 cm (nearly 50") of snow and it shut our whole city down for four days.
Now it's snowing again! I love the snow though, so I can't complain.
For fun, here's our house in the midst of last week's never ending blizzard:
We got it in MN on Friday night and yesterday and we're still trying to snow blow this mess! They say this is one of the worst blizzards since the 1991 Halloween storm.
@bluespurrs: I'm a little further northwest of the Poconos and I know what you mean about never getting out of school!
I still love the snow, and the more the better. I'm kinda mad it's raining right now instead of snowing. I was looking forward to a lazy snowed in day where I could get away with laying on the couch under a blanket and not do anything.
that amount of snow looks strangely familiar .. gotta love Ontario!
it's definitely coming down where i am but it's not as bad as it is elsewhere. i'm just trying to decide when i should scrape the driveway. THATS always fun. lol
There is so much snow here in Minneapolis that the metrodome collapsed!
I'm lucky that I dont' have anywhere to go and can still walk around to get out a bit.
I don't know what I'll do when I'm snowed in and living with my FI in the suburbs in a couple months!
Send some snow here! Though Dallas did get 12in last year in one storm. That was pretty cool. I'd love to have a day or 2 off again. :)

Wisconsin is under a blizzard warning until 6p.m. today (Sun.). I had to work this morning at 9. I got all bundled up in my snow boots, heaviest winter jacket, scarf, hat, and mittens...with my pj's underneath. walked out of my house down the street, pushed a car out of a snow drift that was 2 feet high, turned around, walked back to my house and called work and told them I wasn't going to be able to get to work on a count of my car not being able to make it down my block.
My driveway is completely clear because our house (2 stories) block the driveway. My neighbors driveway has a snowdrift going all the way down it at an angle about 3 feet high.
I love snow in WI, but this, seriously, has to be the worse weather in a very long time. There isn't much snow (only about 5-6 inches) but it's blowing so hard it makes blizzard like conditions.
p.s. it took me almost 30 minutes to drive home last night from work...normally it's about 7 minutes.
