My FH and I have a dream of going to England to study abroad. We’ve never been to Europe before and I’ve seen some pretty nice study abroad sites. I’m curious if anyone has ever studied abroad with a significant other? I don’t think we’d be able to stay together since most of them sound like the lodging is dormitory style. Not a big deal in that sense.
What about money? We don’t have much for savings so would probably be taking out student loans to help pay for the tuition, but I was curious about spending money.
Anyone have any experience studying abroad? Tips or advice? Ever gone with a significant other? The experience alone I’m sure will be life-changing!

I studied abroad 3 times, London, Prague and Dublin.
Dublin was a master’s program and I met my FI there.
The money sitution depends about your school or program you do. I went to London during undergrad and my school actually had a program in London and it cost the same as reg tutition and board so it wasn’t more expensive, but my schol was expensive anyway. Since education is so expensive in the US anyway, it was actually cheaper doing a Master’s in Dublin than it would be in the US. I met A LOT of Americans stuyding there because tuition is cheaper.
If you go to eastern Europe it will be cheaper since living expenses are cheaper in general.

I studied abroad in Spain while I was in college. The program was through my college so they kept tuition the same. However, my housing charge was less than it was to stay in the dorms at my college. In my program we stayed with a host family, not in dorms. I would think if your housing situation was like that, you could explain…maybe…the situation? I didn’t run into anyone who studied abroad with a signifcant other…so I don’t have any super helpful advice to offer you there.
I did have the time of my life and don’t regret it for two seconds. I came home to an empty bank account but it really was the experience of a lifetime.
