He loves tech gadgets (computer, headphones, smartphones, computer games, etc.) and eating meat but that's not a´realistic option. He will have just moved away for a job in Switzerland so I thought that could be a theme but it's uncreative. I also have some random fiesta napkins leftover from asummer party last year and thought of using those as inspiration but feel it's cheating a bit.
Big Bang Theory is one of his favorite shows and has a lot of fun elements but I'm not sure how that could translate....
Ooh ooh! What about a "Minute to Win It" party? They have all the games online, and a lot of them involve figuring out the physics of the games. You could have fondue or raclette while you play :)
That sounds fun and if the weather is cold raclette may be an easy option for food. I just have to look up minute to win it because I've never seenthe show but I get the concept and imagine it would become more interesting after a few glasses of wine...was not thinking of games but could be a nice addition.
What about a roast? All of his friends/family could get together and roast him for his birthday, and also tell nice/funny stories about him
@Cheesy Potatoes: I'm mostly inviting local friends so work colleagues and a roast would not be very appropriate with this group but thanks for the idea.
@slicey19: It would definitely depend on the crowd of friends. If your friends aren't big into games or getting silly, it would totally bomb.

I decided to throw a surprise birthday party for DH and want to keep it low key but also have some sort of theme. Any ideas? He's turning 31 and was pretty unexcited for 30 last year so we had a nice dinner out but did not celebrate with friends. This year I decided to throw him a party and know you Bees are great with themes! A coordinating signature drink could be fun as well. Thanks in advance for your ideas!
