@Stephville:  i started with a speedy saying it would be my last purse ever. then next thing i know i have a never full. haha. i ended up selling my never full after a few years with it and i regret is so much. i love that bag. i still have my trusty speedy. i just wish i had the never full to sling over my shoulder. my FI says once i get pregnant i can get one as a “diaper bag” hahaha.

@Stephville:  I have an Alma!  its not an everyday bag for me – I use it mostly when I go out.  I was going between the Alma and the Speedy 25 for a while.  I haven’t bought many bags since I got my Alma, but I then again I use a backpack every day, so I might not be the best example, sorry!  here’s my baby:

I would imagine that having one expensive bag like that would make you more reluctant to drop money on cheaper bags.

I haven’t bought a bag quite as expensive yet, but I do have a few in the $400-$500 range. Most of them were birthday/Xmas gifts from SO. I definitely am not tempted to go bag shopping very often. I’m happy with the moderately expensive, good quality ones I have… they last and last.

@Stephville:  (faints) more power to you if you can afford to spend $1000 on a bag but I would NEVER!

Haha… I started out with a Louis Vuitton (back when the trendy white ones with mulitcolor logo was big) and then I needed a Burberry… a PINK one, which led me to want a blue one because pink doesn’t always go with everything… and now I have a leather Coach purse… and I am fairly sure I am going to buy a Chanel purse as soon as I can afford it… Its a SLIPPERY SLOPE my friend! 😛

I started with a Galleria PM in Damier Azur, that held me off for about a year and a half. I went and bought Neverful MM (the GM was MASSIVE) in Damier Ebene and I thought I was good.  I do have a large Gucci Tote, and a few small pochettes (LV, Gucci, Prada), but I always seem to see “just one more” that I can’t get out of my mind, and my wheels start turning!

I am pregnant, and thought about getting an insert for my Neverfull and use it as a diaper bag, but in the back of my head this is just another excuse to get another bag!

I think an LV bag is the one I would get if I ever stop buying Chinese knockoffs during Carribean cruises!

@Stephville:  I’m happy with my Speedy, but it certainly didn’t satiate my cravings. I buy at least 2 designer handbags a year, but still use that particular LV regularly.

Truthfully, if you want a bag to stop you from buying others I’d go with something that’s actually made of leather. Higher end LV’s are made from leather but pretty much everything that’s under $1000 (bags with their monogram or damier print) is made of vinyl.

@Stephville:  I bought one and then had bag regret.  Mostly because they are so expensive and are not even leather!  It also bugged me that there are so many LV knock offs every where you look.

@Stephville:  have you thought about buying one from a luxury retail site?

i love yoogi’s closet (i’m not putting links here as i think it’s a no no – but google it) and ‘the real real’, and portero luxury.

everything is 100% authentic, lots come with reciepts, tags, boxes etc. they all have generous return policies (usually 30 days no questions asked) and everything i’ve ever bought has been immaculately clean etc.

i recently bought 2 hermes scarves (1 from yoogi’s closet and 1 from the real real) and my mum bought an hermes watch from the real real and i can’t say enough great things!

you could likely find those bags (speedy especially, there are many – i have a 25 and LOVE it) on those sites for between 400 and 700 depending on size and condition. it’s worth a look – might help make the purchase more comfortable. and then you could potentially get both for MUCH less 🙂
