and why do you drink it? Just curious but….sometimes tap water freaks me out. I’ve been drinking it lately to cut down on costs but I don’t know. I can definately tell the difference in taste between bottled and tap, but I wonder if health-wise there is really any difference. What do you all think?
side note: He had a brita faucet filter on the sink before I moved in (it’s still there) but it needs a new filter because the little button is red now lol. We just haven’t bought one yet.. that’s why I’ve been drinking tap water. Before we got married, I bought bottled water.

Health wise there’s totally a difference depending on where you are. Some water is harder than in other areas so therefore will taste different. I know that I loved tap water when I lived in Germany and now, living in England, I try not to drink it.
You’re not alone 🙂

Supposedly the water is polluted nearly everywhere with not only regular contaminants, but also pharmaceutical. Mr. Tacos has a brita pitcher and I drink out of that! I used to drink tap water when I lived downtown, and it definitely was gross. I go for filtered at home.

i drink water from a filter, but only because water in louisiana tastes funny to me… at home it tastes fine and i can drink from a tap. i agree with the harder water statement and i think that different water sources use different filtration methods.

I typically drink filtered water, like through my fridge. But I won’t buy water bottles to keep at my house. It’s so wasteful, even when you do recycle them. And with as much water as I drink in the day, I would go through a lot of plastic bottles.
I agree with you though, I don’t like the taste of tap water. Health wise, I think it depends on where you live. I know my tap water is fine, I just prefer the taste of it filtered.

I hate well water and I don’t like DC’s tap water, so I just drink the filtered water from the fridge. If I didn’t have that I’d totally have to buy a brita filter or something. But I won’t drink bottled water either.

I don’t like the water from my tap at home either 😛 it’s too chlorinated, blech! We rock the Brita. My fiance’s Brooklyn water, however, is delicious, and I’m very jealous he can drink right out of the sink!

I only drink bottled water. Tap tastes gross and even brita filter tastes funny to me. I don’t buy the little bottles though, I buy the big 2.5 gallon ones at the grocery (2.50 each) and I fill smaller bottles from that to take with me when I go somewhere. I know it is wasteful but I just can’t stand the tastes of any other water. When Fiance and I get in our new house I think we’re going to start buying those ginormous bottles because we both drink a ton of water.

I drink tap water. Many of the bottled waters are merely filtered municipal water. There is less regulation on bottled water than in tap water. Plus, bottled is less ecologically friendly.

Our tap water is actually pretty good (Chicago) but at my parent’s house about 45 minutes away it’s bottled only cuz theirs is nasty

Filtered tap. When we got our water softener last year (our well water is very hard) we got a reverse osmosis filtration system. It’s right next to the faucit so it is very convenient, up-front costs were relatively inexpensive, and it tastes just as good, if not better, then bottled water. We never buy bottled water. We just keep a jug of it in the fridge for cold water.

NYC tap water is really good, but we use the Brita filter that you attach to the sink just for extra filtration.

i drink bottled. i’m a water snot and i think all other water tastes funny. even some bottled water tastes water to me.

i know nyc tap water is supposed to be good, but i don’t like it any more than the tap water in any other place i’ve been. i’ve never had tap water that i enjoyed. i always filter it at home and bring a reusable bottle with me when i’m out.

You can SMELL our tap water before you taste it. It smells like natural gas. I swear I’m going to throw a match at a cup of it one day and see if it turns into a fire ball. Even the filter in our fridge doesn’t get rid of it. We do bottled for this reason, but normally, when I live in an area that doesn’t have stinky water, I drink tap.
