Ouch...that really is a slap in the face by your company. Sorry you have to go through this. Definitely try to keep your chin up. It stinks even more that it's someone you used to work with and can't stand. Grr...life is definitely unfair sometimes!! Just wanted to say sorry this is happening and hope things look up for you...
That sucks! Sorry I have no great advise, but that is a really crummy thing to have to do:( I am a nurse and this happened to me when I switched jobs and a nurse I REALLY dislike from my previous employer came and worked in my department. I wish I could tell you that it was a different place and the person and I got along better, but that definately did not happen!
Wow that really sucks!!! Sorry you have to suck it up and show her the ropes.
That sucks. I'm not sure what your job or company is like. Was there anyone else who could have helped? the other person who you don't like, do you have to be in contact much with him/her? Uggg.
(Hugs). I'm sure it looks like a bummer now. But I bet it's just a momentary pause for something bigger and better for you. Good luck.
@kimberleegurl - thanks for the chuckle!
Yeah, our cubes are about 10 feet apart, so there's not going to be a ton of separation for us. There was one other possible person to show the newbie the ropes, but maybe since I have more seniority? IDK. But, it has motivated me to look elsewhere, so maybe I won't be here much longer?
that's a pretty big slap in the face. you should start looking for a new job. I would do that instantly and make it my passion, day and night! Karma baby. You'll find your true dream job, and they can figure out the details on their own. GOOD LUCK!

If any of you were following my posts in the Lounge, you'll know that I didn't get a job that I was super excited for (same company, different position). Well, not only did they hire someone else, but I am that person's "friend" and "get" to take them around to show them the ropes. Ouch. But, not only that, they hired someone I've worked with before at a previous company and I cannot. stand. this. person. But, I've got to grin and bear it because, really, what other choice do I have? I could have been spiteful and said "no, I'd really prefer to not help this usurper of my perfect job" but then I wouldn't be a "team player". And why they thought this was a good idea, I don't know. "Hey - we're not hiring you for this position, but would you like to help the newbie get comfortable?" Brilliant plan, folks.
