Title pretty much sums it up. What movies scare you every time you watch them?
-Silence of the Lambs. Or any in the series. Hannibal Lecter is probably the most terrifying villain of any movie. I can’t watch Anthony Hopkins in anything without thinking of these films.
-And as stupid as these two sound- Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

KatiePi: The one that scarred me for life at 5 (yes 5, my grandma thinks she’s funny – and loves horror movies – my mom was so pissed) was It. I watched it again like 6 years ago to try to get over it and was still terrified up until the end where they showed that ridiculous spider thing. Still hate clowns though.
Also, movies that are based on true events or are more based in reality. Like Last House on the Left (since it involves rape, kidnapping, etc all of which are serious fears of mine).

Ooh, Silence of the Lambs is a good choice.
I know there are more that freak me out, but the one that comes to mind first is The Hills Have Eyes (both versions). Eek!

FutureMrsJohnson_: I had that issue with the Chucky series for a very long time : – /

I’m a baby and don’t do scary movies at all. Out of the like 5 I’ve seen that friends have convinced me “aren’t that bad” (yeah they’re all liars in my book 🙂 is Jeepers Creepers. I guess I understand why people watch them but I just can’t handle it and they all freak me out!

FutureMrsJohnson_: It…good choice. I’m not even bothered by clowns but that movie bothers me.
indyJEEP: Never seen it! Maybe I should watch it soon.
I’ve watched Silence of the Lambs tonight and am now on Red Dragon. Why am I doing this to myself?? (The’re so good though!)
ETA: I really should stop typing so late at night. So many errors.

What Lies Beneath. I have hated that movie ever since I was a child. I’ve never been able to watch it all the way through. I don’t know why though, because in all honesty I’m not afraid of ghosts, and FI (who’s terrified of ghosts) says it’s not that scary. It was on the TV a few months ago, I spent about half an hour hiding behind a pillow and FI before turning it off!

KatiePi: Oh jeez, you’re on a roll! I have to watch scary movies alone because DH legitimately will not watch them with me bahaha, so I usually watch them late at night when he’s asleep and then get all creeped out before bed. In all honestly, it wasn’t even a good movie so I have no clue why it creeped me out so much – Silence of the Lambs is scary, but it’s good!

I am a complete wimp when it comes to horror films but this was by far the worst. Mirrors tend to creep me out anyway so I have no idea why my FI very kindly recorded the film for me.. I couldn’t even go to the bathroom by myself afterwards, I made him stand outside the door and talk to me constantly, with strict instructions that if I stopped talking to break in and save me from the mirror haha!
The bathroom scene has to be the most horrific thing ever!

The woman in black scared me! And silent hill… That siren!
I’m a bit of a wuss though for things making me jump 🙂

Silence of the Lambs doesn’t really scare me, I think it’s more disturbing. Like Straw Dogs

Mrs_Purple: What Lies Beneath is a good choice because of the psychological element, I think.
LeopardPrintBee: Silent Hill is another good choice… the spectacle of the cinematics is amazing.
However, if there can only be one winner… the prize has to go to Ringu, the 1998 Japanese horror film which was remade as the (inferior) “Ring” films. I actually watched that film as an adult, and afterwards then I had to talk myself down from covering the TV with a blanket. I didn’t do it. But it was close.
There are several other Japanese films which are also really good. But Ringu is really scary.

I can’t watch The Ring, where the chick is walking all broken boned… and especially when she crawls through the TV! Oh God… I can’t even be near a TV when I remember that scene. Also any movies with possession in them freak the hell out of me. The Exorcist where she crawls down the stairs upside down (UGGHHH) and mainly anything that has dead people walking all broken, or dead / possessed children. I can’t watch Paranormal Activity movies either. I watched the first one and could barely get to sleep, and in the morning I woke up to my daughter standing over me watching me sleep, just like the movie… I think I just about wet myself.

… oh, you know what else is good? 28 Days Later is a great film. It has just the right balance of character, plot, and horror.
Not to be confused with 28 Weeks Later, which was ****.
