For a babyshower I would wear a cute little dress, nothin' to formal :)
Maybe your top and sweater with a skirt, or dressy jeans with cute flats?
I think your outfit can to go to both events. Normally I'd say no to black and plum at a baby shower, but with jeans it sounds fine. Not like you're going to be vamping it up or anything.

I think your outfit would work just fine for a shower. Depending on the location and time of year, I've worn various things--not always a skirt or dress.

Hello ladies,
I have a baby shower to attend this Saturday and I am not sure what to wear. I went out today and bought a cute black sweater and a silk plum sleeveless top to go under it and I was going to wear jeans and some plum colored suede heels with it. Is this overkill? I am also going to a get-together at FI's friends house for dinner that evening. Should I save that outfit for the evening? Could I wear it to both? Should I choose a different outfit for the shower?
