I live in a college town, and usually the bars are very particular about checking ID. The police are really strict about it here and a couple bars were recently shut down for failing to comply. So I was surprised when I stopped getting carded, even when others in the line near me were. I’m only 24. I guess maybe the way I dress sets me apart for the undergrads who are trying to sneak in? Or maybe it’s my ring? I seem to remember last summer getting carded, so it’s only been about 6 or so months that it stopped… I don’t particularly care- in fact I’m glad that I don’t look like a 18 year old any more, I think looking a little older will keep me from looking out of place in front of a classroom when I teach. But it did surprise me.
Anyway, when did you notice you weren’t getting carded any more?

I haven’t been carded at all lately and I’m only 22. Probably because I don’t go out with a bunch of people that look younger than 21 and I act mature and not like I’m trying to get away with anything.

I have been carded about five times since I was 17. Only carded once since my twenty-first birthday. :O Thought it was cool when I was younger, now it just makes me sad. I don’t want to look old!

MissAsB- I think how a person acts must have a lot to do with it…

I still do and I’ll be 29 next month. I went to lunch with my sister last week for Sister’s Day (fun day where we shop, lol) and the lady wanted to see my ID. I guess for procedure. I don’t look under 21…maybe I should be offended that they think I’m trying to get drinks or something…

I’m 32 and I still get carded. sigh.

Only when I’m a regular. Otherwise I tend to need two forms of ID, even when stopped by police. I carry my college ID as a backup.
No one ever believes BF and I are 24… I thought about buying a drink at the corner store last night, but realized there was no way in hell I would be able to get it with BF not having his wallet.
His nickname is “Babyface”. He’ll be 25 in three weeks, and old ladies still give him coupons in the grocery with instructions of “be sure to give these to your mom!”

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. One guy at the grocery store always cards me when I buy beer despite the fact that he knows who I am now (I think). Sometimes at restaraunts I do, sometimes I don’t. I dont go to bars and clubs and stuff though so idk about those places.
I remember on my 21st birthday, my mom was coming to nyc to visit so I wanted to buy her some wine since she loves it and since I was 21 I thought it would be kind of fun to exercise my new found right. I went into the wine shop next to where I work and went to pay for the wine AND THEY NEVER CARDED ME. I guess maybe because it’s a wine-only shop not many underage kids go in wanting to get drinks or something, but still. I was disappointed lol

26…and I still get carded everywhere…and I am finally at an age where I take it as a HUGE compliment instead of an insult. lol

It varies for me. If I’m somewhere “younger” like a nighclub, I still get carded even though i’m 25. If I’m somewhere “older” like a classy bar or restaurant, they don’t care at all. I’ve been with underage people at “older” places and they didn’t get carded.

I’m 30 and got carded last night, @ a restaurant we always go to….The server was new, haahahaahaaa – – I’ll get carded for a long time its ok, I know I look young for my age…I am also quite short, petite, w/ no boobs so I don’t have a lot helping me…My ering does help a little bit though, HAAHAAHAHAAA

I still get carded at the grocery store, but I saw them card a person who was clearly in their 50s, so I don’t feel like that counts.
I haven’t been carded in bars for the past year or so. I stopped having my wallet at the ready about 6 months ago, which feels weird – I just order a drink and they bring it! I’m 31.

@prairiegirl: I am still 21 and will gladly trade places with you. I haven’t been carded in ages. I feel so old.
