The first one looks like a bridesmaids dress to me. The bottom one looks like a fun party dress while not being over the top.

    Is there a special event it’s for…?

It all comes down to personal style and taste preference.  Which do you like better?

I think the second one is super fancy because of all the sequins/beading/embroidery or whatever is going on in that bodice.  I think the sangria dress is more versatile and could be worn for fancy events or more casual events.  As far as fashion, I think the first dress is more classic, beautiful, and interesting.

Well this may or may not affect your decision, but I love to rent dresses from Rent the Runway for fancy occasions.  You can get designer dresses at ridiculously low prices (sometimes only $35 if they’re running a promotion).  So now I never buy fancy dresses because I know I can get something awesome from RTR and I can wear something different for every occasion.  I prefer to buy casual dresses only.

Hm. I think it depends on what other nice events you need the dress for!  The first one seems more versatile for professional/cocktail functions & the second seems like it is more of a dedicated party dress.

Well in that case I prefer #2, unless you have a lot of weddings you’re hoping to wear it to. It’s a bit close too close to white for me.

What kind of cocktail party? What season is it in? Inside? Outside? Professional? Friends? Location (is it going to be hot).

Honestly, when I think cocktail dress, I think of one at least knee to floor length. If at night inside, i would add some glitz if outside or in the heat, you can lean toward a summery color.

I personally don’t think either are fitting for a cocktail party.

I love the second dress.  Where is it from?
