Personally, I would feel a little uncomfortable removing my gown after graduation when all the family and friends are milling around sipping punch if I were wearing a strapless dress. It's a great dress though, and if you feel confident enough to pull it off then go for it. In my case though, I would probably want something just a little more demure for walking around among all those grandmothers in the middle of the day. So I say go for the black one.
Congratulations!
I like the striped because it's more fun! No one at the actual graduation will see your dress so it depends on the party you are having.
Black! Since it's a graduation I would want to look more sophisticated.. plus its the morning. if you are going out that night you could always change and wear the stripped one then! And congrats on graduation!! My fiance is almost done in his 1st year of medical school so I see all the hard work that goes into it!!
I think the black one is too dressy, but I just re-read and it IS medical school. I voted for the striped one anyhow.... Both are great. Congratulations!
Oh and you could always find some really cute heels to top off the dress since that is what will show through the ceremony!
I love the striped one so much! Isn't it from Anthro? I think that's where I saw it and I thought it was so cute! I understand your point about looking professional, but I still like the striped one. :)
Thanks for the input everyone! I think I'm gonna go with the black one with black pumps.
Just FYI, the black dress is from Banana Republic and the striped one is from Anthropologie. :)
I LOVE that black dress! For some reason, I don't see it on the BR website?? I'll look again!
Go with the black one!
The black one. It will look great with black heels under your cap and gown. When I graduated from my program I had on a black dress (with yellow touches). Looked great when I took off the cap and gown.
Very elegant and chic!
Wear the other dress for maybe brunch the next day after your diploma lands!
Congratulations!
Yay, I'm officially a physician!!!
My graduation yesterday was amazing! I went with the black dress, which looked great with my doctorate cap and gown. Thanks for your input ladies!
p.s. I got the dress about 6 months ago from BR, during the holiday season... I doubt they still sell it.
woo hoo!! congrats Dr. ddubzz !! the black dress was a perfect choice :)
congrats Dr. ddubzz! that is an amazing accomplishment! i work with physicians everyday (i work at a hospital) and some of them are amazing people :D
ALso...yay for almost date twin!
I say stripes because its more fun, and looks like it would be more cool under a heavy graduation gown lol

Hi bees, I'm graduating from medical school tomorrow!
Which dress should I wear under my graduation gown? The ceremony takes place in the morning. I like both dresses, but they're very different style-wise. I'm leaning more towards the black one since it looks more "professional." But is it okay for a morning event (it's all silk)? What do you think?
