Get the platform.  I hear mixed reviews about the comfort levels of loubies so I would opt for the platform just as an added step.

Go with the platform, they will be so much more comfortable and easy to walk in. Plus, they look nicer 🙂

I’d skip the platform, the first pair is just more classic to me

Platforms! They are more trendy and more modern looking than the first pair. And that’s what CL is all about!

I personally like the look of platforms and how they reduce the height of the heel on your foot.  In this case, I would try them both on and see what is more comfortable since they look so similar.  Essentially, you’ll be feeling the same heel height in both shoes (4.25″).  I’m not sure what size your foot is, but if you have small feet like me (5.5 US), wearing anything over 3.5″ will put your ankle at a weird angle, so definitely walk around in them for a bit.

@MASPA:  From the horse’s mouth — his shoes are about style: He doesn’t care if you’re comfortable, haha.

No way in hell would I buy uncomfortable shoes regardless of the designer.

To OP: Number one is a classic to me, so I’d go with that. But if the shoes were not comfortable, I’d go with neither.

I disagree with the PP that said “trendy” is something you should go for in a pair of $700 shoes. I mean, maybe if you are Mariah Carey and this is like 1 of 300 pair you will buy in your life.

I think the first pair is much more classic, and office appropriate. The second pair is too high of a heel to wear to a funeral, or office or meeting, etc. The Decollette can be dressed up to go to dinner or a club or something, but you can’t make the New Simple more conservative. You will get more mileage out of the Decolette and I prefer the toe shape.

If I had $700 to spend on only one pair of Loubs, I’d choose #1. Think about what will you still want to wear when you are 40?

I disagree with saying you could make the first pair look more trendy. It’s not that kind of a shoe, they could end up looking completly out of place with a more trendy outfit. However, you could wear the platforms with lots of different outfits from going out, to skinny jeans on the weekend, and work clothes.

The platform is really not high, so it would still be considered a office appropriate shoe.

Where I work, a 5 inch heel is not office appropriate….. @OP, what are you primarily buying them for? Weekends and evenings out, or are they going to be a work shoe also?

@IzzyBear:  I have 3 pairs of the decolette (black, red and nude) and absolutely love them. They look great with everything and I get so many compliments on them.

ETA: I’ve worn them to black tie events and with jeans. You cannot go wrong.

@IzzyBear:  The New Simple is definitely sexier, but the Decollete is more classic. You need to decide what you value more for the money– classic and timeless or more sexy? Nothing wrong with choosing either one…
