It’s your hair! Do what you want. Plus, the cool thing about hair is it grows back. 🙂

Grafton86:  Yep, it’s a tale as old as time…I guess it’s just been ingrained in them? Starting from birth, the vast majority of the famed “beauty” they see – models, actresses, etc. – have long hair. That’s slowly changing, but I think it will take the male race quite a while to catch up!!

My ex hated short hair on women and I had mine short the whole time we were together. Now I’m with a guy who claims to love both, and my hair has never been so long. Ha!

You should do what makes you happy. Talk to your stylist about whether it will work for your face shape, and if it sounds like a go, then give it a whirl!

I have really long hair, like down to my butt, and my FI doesn’t even like it when I get a trim. He loves long hair, he’d probably kill me if I cut it as short as that picture. I think that hair style looks cute, at least on that woman. I’ve cut my hair short a couple times and always hated it after and grew it back out. I do think that most of the men that I know prefer long hair, I don’t know if it’s viewed as a femine thing or  if short hair is viewed as more masculine or what, but that seems to be the general consensus among men. On the flip side, I can’t stand when guys have long hair, don’t know why, I just don’t like how it looks.

Grafton86:  First off, my husband is very vocal about how distressed he would be if I cut my hair short. Like the end of the freaking world lol.

The cut you are considering may be a bit too drastic of a change for your husband all at once. Maybe cut it shorter gradually (shoulders, then chin, then ears, etc…) to give you both a chance to get used to it. Remember if you’ve never had it cut that short before you may not like it either and it would take months to grow back.

I had my hair cut almost exactly like this a few years back, and I couldn’t believe how many men came out of the woodwork to tell me they prefer long hair on women. Like I cared! My FI (boyfriend at the time) couldn’t have cared less, he went with me to the appointment and kept me calm through the whole thing lol. Sometimes (some) men need to be reminded that their opinions don’t always matter and aren’t always wanted, and that women don’t always make decisions based on what men like. They seem to believe the contrary!

from an evolutionary standpoint long, healthy hair is probably interpreted as a sign that you are healthy and able to have lots of his babies. I’m not an anthropologist though, so take that with a grain of salt.

My hair goes down to my bum and my Fi loves it.  He would never want me to cut it any shorter then my bra line.  He actually freaks out a little when I go to have it cut that I might come back with it too short.  On the other hand I love my Fi’s beard and would freak just the same if he came home without it.

I had been wanting to cut my hair short for the longest time, but grew it out for the wedding. I had the appointment booked to chop off my hair right after our honeymoon, but my new DH was so adament about me having ‘mom hair” lol whatever that means. So I didn’t cut it. 6 months later, I was still dying to cut it, so I just did it! I mean, it’s my hair and yes, I would like to be attractive to my DH but if doing something so little like cutting my hair would change how he felt about me, that’s not really a marriage I would want to be in. Although I do want to go short like the picture you posted, I also opted for stages, not just to get DH used to the idea, but also myself!

Good luck! And remember, hair grows back!

babykoala:  OMG you mean I’m not the only one who feels the same way about the beard? That’s his “or else” to me. He knows I would be heartbroken if he shaved his luxurious beard (and it really is luxurious 😉

yeah my man does too. it’s supposedly a sign of fertility lol. back in the stone ages, all women had long hair (and men too i guess…) but it indicated a woman was healthy enough to have children. now, i’m not sure. maybe they think it’s more feminine. maybe they’re just very traditional. i think it really depends on the guy.

babykoala:  Aquaria:  I love beards too! My FI can grow a really nice one, he could probably go Duck Dynasty if he wanted to (that might be a little much lol). Unfortunatly, his work keeps making him shave it, damn them!

Grafton86:  I love having my hair long and it was my experience that men liked it long as well…except my Fi! He likes when I cut my hair short (I only love it for like 3 days) and he says when it’s long it reminds him of Little House on the Prarie girls 🙁 not sexy.
