So my FI is on his first tour to Iraq and he will be taking his R&R in May...yay, 3 more months!!! Hes decided that he'd like to meet in Europe and spend it there so he saves on traveling time and we get more time to spend together. I was super surprised and hello, Europe!! Ha but really, I'm just so excited to see him and I would go anywhere to do it!

Anyways, we've decided that it would probably be best to both fly into Germany but we're drawing blanks as to where to go from there? From another post, I got the website for the army vacation club thing so I gues my question is, has anyone done this for R&R? How does booking lodging using the military website go?

Germany sounds like a wonderful time. FI has shown me different places through the Army Vacation Club but we have never actually used it. When his dad lived in Germany they had a travel agent on base do a lot of their plans for them (which were probably similar deals).

Regardless of what you decide, I hope that you have a wonderful time with your FI.

I HAVE THE PERFECT PLACE!! They are even offering specials for those on R&R! 

I have been there and the area is gorgeous! If you like to ski then its great but even if you don't you will love it.

ejs4y8: See, that's what we thought and we want every single minute we can get! The good thing is that FI's family will be joining us for at least a few days and I'm so glad, they miss him a lot, too. Class A? Is that like the military flights? We've heard about those and heard some great things about it, minus the waiting ha. I had suspicians it might be a little difficult but some of the deals are great. I'll def be looking around the internet but it just sucks you can't actually book anything yet because we won't know the exact date until a few weeks out! I'll have to ask the FRG, I didn't even think about that. Thank you so much for helping!

lampshade127: Aw thank you so much, we're pretty excited, too!! I've never been to Germany and really am excited to see it! I never thought about using a base travel agent, that's a really good idea!!

derbybride: I looked at it and omg, the deal sounds great!! I've heard that Bavaria is gorgeous, I'd love to go! Did yall use the deal when yall went? I hate that we wouldn't be able to book til the last minute. Do you know anything about them booking up and busy seasons? That's so cool they offer that for the military!

Ladies, yall are so sweet and I really appreciate your help and opinions! I am definitely going to pass on the word about the Edelweiss R&R deal and I am going to look more into your other suggestions! I am so excited to see him, I miss him so much!

Are there any places that yall have been or want to go that are musts! We're thinking about taking the trains to a few places and don't know where we should go! Thoughts?!
