What started out as a simple vacation for DH and I along with my sister and her DH has turned into a full blown family vacation for 8 adults and one 8 month old baby.

Considering I am the planner of the family, I have been put in charge of planning, which is great, but also overwhelming.  Basically, I need ideas!  I have no idea what everyone's budget is, but I'm thinking I need to keep it at $1500 max per person.  If we're going to fly, we'll be leaving from Denver and the timeframe we're shooting for is 7 days starting Memorial Day weekend of 2012.

Oh, and Mexico is out of the picture.  No amount of arguing will convince my dad to go there...so, as budget friendly as that is, I'm afraid it's out of the question.

I would love any ideas anyone has.  So far, my brain is stuck on the Virgin Islands, but airfare to there could eat up a huge portion of our budget :(

Does it have to be someplace out of the country? If not there are a lot of places you could go...

    • Grand Canyon
    • Las Vegas....believe it or not, there is a lot for little kids to love in Vegas
    • The beach....Myrtle, Hilton Head, Cape Hatteras, etc.
    • Disney World or Disney Land

Perhaps a cruise! You can always find budget friendly cruises.

You should also check cheapcaribbean.com they always have a bunch of super good deals.

@JamaicaBride:  In the states works for me too!  I love all of your ideas :)

@mwitter80: I am keeping my fingers crossed we can find a good deal on cheapcaribbean.  We would love to do an all-inclusive, so that may be a good route to go!

I would absolutey do a cruise when you're planning for that many people!  Plus - there is so much to do that everyone should be able to find things they enjoy despite all of the varied interests of a large group.

@Mrs.KMM:  With the exception of my DH, no one has ever been on a cruise.  Do you recommend a certain cruise line?

I've cruised with both Royal Carribean and Carnival.  Of the two - I prefer Royal Carribean.  I just thought everything about it was a little nicer overall.  My parents (who cruise alot) feel the same.  That said - I wouldn't not cruise with Carnival but would certainly choose RC over it any day.

I agree with FutureKMM - Cruises are great because there's so many activities and you can separate and get together for different activities. Since it's mostly adults I also suggest Royal Carribean. Holland America is good too. Cruise Critic is a great forum for researching locations, ships and excursions - http://www.cruisecritic.com/
