I hate being sick...not that I think anyone actually enjoys it.  So as I sit here on the couch right now...all rudolph nose and droopy eyes and all I began to wonder...what would happen if God forbid I got sick before the wedding?  I don't think my red, runny, and most likely skin chapped nose would garner me the 'blushing bride' look I hope for!  So what is all of your go to cold remedies?  Mine....sleep, aloe tissues and TheraFlu...oh and lots and lots of hot tea with lemon

Usually theraflu and then dayquil for the day, so I can get through the day, and of course.. chicken noodle soup!  I also get in the bed as soon as I can, and vaseline is a must.  I never buy the tissues I should with aloe and stuff so I use vaseline around my nose lol

I can tolerate any/every cold symptom except for a stuffy nose.  If I'm congested I CANNOT sleep.  So I always have nasal spray for emergencies.

I do echinacea/zinc and Vitamin C lozenges & wash my hands like crazy to try to prevent getting sick during the winter.  If I get sick, it's just sleep mixed with some hot tea and honey.

I use Afrin when my nose is super congested, it opens you up within a few minutes and it lasts a long time.

Also, the "behind the counter" decongestant pills (Advil Cold & Sinus, etc) work way better than the versions that are NOT behind the counter, they actually contain more effective ingredients, so always get your cold pills from the pharmacist and not in the regular aisle.

Tons of sleep, hot tea with honey, and Tiger Balm to help my nose get un-stuffy. Hope you feel better soon!

Warm bourbon with a bit of honey.. thats just if I lose my voice though. Nothing better than a warm toddy before a concert!! For my nose I use sudafed though.

airborne, ZINC (seriously, it works), lots of sleep, wearing socks to bed (sounds weird, but it kicks the cold every time), vitamin C, lots of hot water with lemon (and a drop of honey if it's too sour).

No cold remedy works, but salt water gargles and neti pots do.  It's all about the saline!

Theraflu, zinc lozenges, Nyquil, lots of tea or hot water with honey.  I tried to use the neti pots but there's either something wrong with me or I'm doing it wrong because I always feel worse afterwards!

Raw garlic! Or Buckleys. Both relieve my congestion & make me feel less blah. Raw garlic is nasty, but it beats sore throat & stuffy nose hell! :)

    1.  Sleep at much as you can--go on bed rest.

    2.  Drink as much water as you can possibly stand.

    3.  Take tons of vitamins.  I use Vitamin Shoppe's Wellness Formula.  Any vitamin shop will have a multi that's packed with a ton of stuff to help fight viruses.

    4.  Take the supplement Ying Chia twice a day.

I had a bit of a stuffy nose and did this for 2-3 days last week and it was the most mild cold I've ever had.  The earlier you treat your cold, the better.  If you wait a day or two you're too far in.

Airbourne & Zicam Fastmelts as soon as I feel symptoms coming on with either Sudafed or Robitussin (depending on the kind of sick) during the day and Nyquil at night.

Tons of water, sleep and tea with honey too!

I try to get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, take vitamin C chewables, and Echinacea/Goldenseal tincture at the first signs of illness. I know the Echinacea is unproven either way, and it may be placebo effect, but I feel it works for me. It has to be the tincture though, and it must contain the root of Echinacea (if you read the label and see that your tincture contains the aerial parts of the plant, such as leaves and flowers, it is not as effective - mots of the good medicine is in the roots). I am visiting my parents for the holidays right now, and I don't have any here...and I just got sick a day or two ago!!! I always seem to get sick around Christmas - what a drag!

Sudafed! I hate that you have to go to the pharmacist and sign to buy it, because it's the only thing that works. Stupid meth heads, making it impossible for me to get my cold remedy 24/7.

Oooh, I agree Marjojo! I feel like a criminal whenever I buy it!

I take Zicam like its my job, along with Alka Seltzer. I swear Alka Seltzer can cure anything!

@ DG : My family loves Netipots, but I have yet to try one, as they all have told me "it only feels like you're drowning for a minute!" Ok, no.

Lemsip! You guys probably don't get it over there but it's basically a hot lemon drink with paracetamol. I always carry a packet or two with me in the winter and just have it every so often with a little bit of honey. Works wonders and really clears me up.

Also no cold drinks. At all. Even water or OJ. Just tea and lots of hot drinks when I'm ill.

I swear by Mucinex.  Back when I didn't have insurance I got sick and was taking care of it the best I could but after almost a month of the head congestion and fevers off and on I bit the bullet and went in to the urgent care because I wanted some meds.  75 bucks later she tells me "go get some mucinex" and wouldn't give me medication...I was sooooo mad...so fine I got the stupid mucinex and what do you know, it worked.  It's a miracle pill I swear.
