I don't think you get a formal record from the church unless you ask for one. We didn't get one. However, if you're worrying about it why don't you just request one? The church where you were married becomes the parish of record for your marriage. Contact the parish office secretary yourself, rather than going through the priest. The secretaries are the stewards of the record books :). They should have some standard for for providing this, like when you request proof of your baptism or confirmation. I'm sure everything is fine!
Thanks Chelsea. Unfortunately the paris is TINY and the priest is the ONLY person there so there's nobody else to talk to! But I'm reassured that it's not customary to get a record unless requested.

Does anyone know if you're supposed to get any formal proof of your marriage from the church? I seem to remember the priest saying that he would send in the paperwork and we would get notification of some sort.
We did get our paperwork from NY State- but I haven't gotten anything from the church.
The priest was pretty unreliable- I was even worried about leaving him wtih the paperwork. So I just don't want to find out, years from now, that I've been living in sin due to a clerical error!
Thanks.
