I went to a bachelorette party in NYC last summer. We went to Cuba for dinner (amazing food, amazing service). Then we went to Le Scandal (a burlesque variety show in Midtown). It was a little... off-color and definitely not something I would have chosen to do myself, but we had fun with it. There WAS nudity (women, not men). Then we went to a little salsa club in SoHo- super fun!
you can go to dinner somewhere real nice... a male revue (not sure how you feel about that but just an option!) there are a bunch of nightclubs/lounges that aren't your standard "fist pumper" type of place for example, you can go to a speakeasy like the Back Room down in the lower east side. it's like a prohibition type place where they give you drinks in tea cups lol its cute
Thanks girls, those places sound like some good options. I'll have to see if my sister has heard of any of them.
Keep 'em coming! :)
@shellzbellz: Are you a wine drinker? I was at a bachelorette in NY last weekend and we actually stayed out on Long Island and did Winery tours. It was awesome. We all rented a house and it was a really fun weekend (with lots of drinking) but very laid back. No clubs or anything, we went out to a nice dinner on Saturday night as well.
@Moose1209: This is what I'm thinking of doing!
Would you mind posting (or PMing me) the wineries and where on LI you stayed?
@Moose1209: That sounds like a good idea. I'm torn between something chill like that and something crazier/bachelorette-like.
My sister threw out the idea of a scavenger hunt and I thought that sounded fun, but would we just walk the street of new york for a few hours takings crazy pics? Since I don't want clubs I don't know where else we'd go...
Some of the more chill options would be tons of fun though and a great time for all the girls to be together. Maybe I should just go with something like that.
I just posted this in another NYC bach thread, maybe it'll help:
A few ideas, with links because I'm a nerd like that
Comedy Club, but you might want to check though - some might be 21+. Comedy Cellar and Comic Strip Live are good.
Broadway Show
Fancy Dinner (Some of my favs: La Bottega, Stanton Social, TAO)
Boat Cruise around the city? Check Circle Line and Water Taxi
Baseball Game
Spa Day
@JrzyGurl: Thanks for your many suggestions! I like the boat cruise idea. A lot of the girls coming aren't familiar with NYC (I don't think) so that could be cool. I've actually been on one of the party boat cruises around NYC and it was awesome so it would be pretty cool to try again.
@Moose1209: Oh my gosh, I did the same thing last weekend! We had two hotel room suites, did a wine tour, made dinner together, and then went to yoga and brunch in the am before heading back to the city. When I was first reading your post, I was like, um, were we are the same party?!
@shellzbellz: You can also do dinner at a drag restaurant like Lucky Cheng's - those are really fun. You can do something totally non-clubby and paint pottery, or do a girls night with delivery and a movie, manis and pedis.
@hermitcrab: Ooh the Lucky Cheng's place sounds fun. Very bachelorette-like still without being a club. Good idea!
I have to agree with Vanilla frosting and say that Cuba is great, a lot of fun and great food. They have a table in the back that is great for a group of girls!
Well then, I'll definitely have to look into this Cuba place!
For my SIL's bachelorette we tried to go to Birdie's Bachelorette Party. Unfortunatly they cancelled it the weekend we were there, but it looked like a lot of fun! It's an interactive broadway play, they even give you party favors. http://www.theatermania.com/new-york/shows/birdys-bachelorette-party_14678/
There are some other interactive shows that are fun too. We went to the awesome 80's prom which was fun, it felt like we were in an 80's movie. http://www.theatermania.com/new-york/shows/the-awesome-80s-prom_104095/
And Tina and Tony's wedding. You pretty much go to an Italian wedding, it's really funny.http://www.tonylovestina.com/shows_tony_tina_wedding_1.cfm?eid=31
@Meegs23- We ate downstairs away from the noise and other guests which was actually perfect! Once we finished dinner, there was a salsa band playing upstairs, but upstairs was pretty crowded.
Apologies to bring up this chain again - but can someone who attended a party in Long Island Wine Country let me know some details? Mine is next weekend! we rented a house...but unsure what wineries or HOW to get around (limo? bus?)
Also - i LOVE the yoga / brunch idea...can you tell me any names of places? im so excited. tahnks for your help!
@shellzbellz: Have you considered a striptease/pole-dancing class? It's a fun bonding event & work-out to boot. I recommend Shockra Studio in Kips Bay (manhattan). For my bachelorette weekend, I'm going bull riding one night, next day taking a belly dancing class & one of my groomsmen is hosting a chocolate-making class (for the older ppl who won't come to belly dancing or strip tease) then dinner & lingerie gifting.

My MOH (sister who lives in NYC) is planning my bachelorette party. She's thrown out some ideas but I'm not really the club type. It's New York City though so there should be tons of options. Anyone from New York know of anything that's bachelorette-y but not really club hopping?
