Hi NYC bees,
We are having our reception in Sept and will be hosting a lot of out of town guests (appx 50). We have our venue and are trying to figure out where to convene everyone the night before and the day after.
We’re not having a wedding party so no rehearsal dinner. We were thinking somewhere for drinks the night before and maybe arranging for a giant picnic in Central Park the next day. Does that sound crazy?
For central park picnic, we thought of getting Citarella to cater. Are there any other suggestions anyone else would make? I also looked at Hill Country Chicken and am going to check out Amy’s bakery.
If anyone has any suggestions we’d love to hear them. Our reception will be somewhat formal so the other two events can be informal. For drinks the night before, we thought of Spotted Pig, one of the private rooms at Bobo, the Biergarten at the Standard but are still looking.

@canuckandakiwi: OH! I just looked into restaurants, so I know of tons that cater! Check out Good Enough to Eat (UWS, fabulous), or the Clinton Street Bakery (LES). They both do an amazing brunch, and I know for sure they cater. Clinton Street even does full service. You can definitely rent a place in Central Park… there are a few places that go for up to 100 (a lot of places are 20-25, and then there’s a huge gap, for the spaces that are OK up to 100). The only bad thing about Central Park is that you can’t bring chairs. The great thing is that it costs $25. (unless you’re somewhere fancy like the Conservatory Garden, or the Boathouse, but I think you can’t bring outside food there?)
Hopefully some of this was helpful and not too rambly. We’re almost date/location twins!

@burgers: Hi almost date-twin!
Thank you, this is really helpful!
I would love to just bring a bunch of blankets and have a picnic with some great food. There’s always a fear that it could rain though 🙁

@canuckandakiwi: We will both be praying for no rain! Blankets on the great lawn or sheep’s meadow is always a great plan! Best of luck!!
