I’m planning a June 2013 wedding in Brooklyn and I’m trying to figure out a realistic budget for our floral arrangements. I think it’s still a little too early to set up meetings with florists for an exact quote, but I’d love to hear opinions from fellow NYC’ers. So… if you don’t mind sharing, what was your floral budget and what did it include?
If it’s helpful, we’re looking for: floral centerpieces for 15 tables and one escort card table at the reception, some altar displays for the church, my bouquet, two bridesmaid’s bouquets, five bouts for the groom/groomsman and corsages for the MOB/MOG. I’d like to use fairly seasonal but also probably kinda pricey flowers – peonies, garden roses, anemones, ranunculus, sweet peas and so on.

I am curious about this as well. There was a post a few months ago on this, but I’d love any more recent suggestions/opinions…
share your florist budget, please!

Our florist is from westchester but I doubt that the pricing is all that different from the City and our flowers are working out at almost $3000 – quite a bit more than i wanted to spend but it was actually a reasonable quote comapred to some others! For that we have 10 centerpieces which include rental lanterns, ribbons and two large arrangements for the church, 3 bouquets with peonies, 10 bouts and 4 corsages and an aisle runner. Also our florist has been a dream to work with, so responsive and worked great with our venue so they are worth it to me for that. Best of luck in your search!

Thanks guys! 🙂
$3000 would be awesome – those $5K+ references in the other thread are totally scary though!

I’m planning a June wedding too (mine is at the Foundry in Long Island City Queens). My floral budget is not that high so would love to hear from other NYC brides as well! If you ladies have florists to recommend, please send us the info! Thanks!!

I’m not quite in the city, but I’m on Long Island and we are paying $4k. We are getting 15 tall centerpieces, 2 bouquets for me (one to throw), 6 bouquets for my bridesmaids, like 6 or 7 boutonnieres, flowers for two flowergirls, ceremony flowers, and 4 arrangements that will be moved around. We are getting a lot for our money!

Definitely interested in this! We just booked our reception hall yesterday – so band and photographer are next. Flowers will come later but it seems like the prices are so varied ! makes me nervous ! 🙂

Our price was pretty low, but we’re not having that many flowers since the wedding is on a golf course in summer, I figured that’s the one area where I can cut corners and still have beautiful scenery… besides why compete with nature?
So we have my bouquet, 3 bridesmaids, 5 boutonnieres, 2 flowers for the mothers, 10 centerpieces and petals for the aisle. It all worked out to about $1300.
I went with Flowers by Peter in Flushing, NY. The reason I liked them best is because they told me if I have something specific in mind, the price would be higher. But if I just told them my colors and let them put together something on their own, they would be able to choose from what was in season and in stock and get me a better price. I have seen their work so I know whatever they will put together will be beautiful, and honestly, I had no clue what I wanted anyway.
I think I read a post on here where some one spent over 20k on flowers… I want to see those!!

Congrats Katie! I am getting married at the Lighthouse in Chelsea Piers. We are spending around $5,000 for our centerpieces, which include 15 arrangements with candles and escort card table. A family friend is doing our church and personal flowers so that is way under budget. Our florist is http://elegantaffairsnyc.com/. Enjoy planning!
Drosz- if you are looking for a band, we are using JK Band (http://jkentertainment.com/). Best price we received for a 10 piece band and very talented.

7 groomsmen boutinierres
3 dad/grandad boutinierres
2 flowergirl pomanders
1 ringbearer boutinierre

@JMars718: that’s such a great deal! My budget is around the same and I was even thinking we had to forego centerpieces because I didn’t think 1-2K would get me anything in NYC! I think I’ll just get the bouquets, boutonnieres, and maybe 1 big arrangement for a recessed area in my venue. We’re going the DIY route with centerpieces (milk jugs & mason jars sitting on wooden blocks tied with burlap/lace and then filled with moneyplants, which my mom grows in her backyard).
Thanks for the vendor reco!

@rosiet: $3K for all of that sounds great! What are the names of these florists? I budgeted $4k for florist, and my mom is convinced i’m severely underbudgeting… I hope she’s wrong!
also is anyone here getting a chuppah? i’d love to know the cost for decorating that (though I’m kind of afraid of the answer)
@criscamz: would you mind sharing how much you’re paying for the band? If you’d rather not, no worries.

@rosiet – if you don’t mind sharing, I’d love to hear which florists quoted you $3K. That amount of money for all of those things sounds fantastic! 🙂
