I'm using Sachiko Yanase for hair and makeup. She gets great reviews and I was VERY pleased with my trial. Her prices are reasonable, by NYC standards at least.
I love my hair guy, and he does makeup too. Unfortunately he can't do my wedding because he's getting married the prior weekend and will be on his honeymoon. I am going to hire him for a makeup trial anyway, and he is going to show me what to do. He is pretty expensive though and has done hair/makeup for several tv shows since I started going to him for haircuts. PM me if you would like his contact info.

I've booked a trial with Angela at Embellir and have just emailed Sissy and Sachiko too.
(@magilnyc - thanks for the link. I spotted this before, but I think they just do hair and I fancied someone who did both)
My next question is this - how many trials should I have? There is real potential for me to go all Bridezilla about this; I'm laid back about most things, but hair and makeup is not one of them! How many did you have?
I had one trial, decided I wanted to go with a different look 5 months later, and then winged it the day of (with magazine photos as a guide for Sissi). Luckily Sissi totally got what I wanted so a 2nd trial wasn't necessary. Depends on the person, I guess! I know brides who have had multiple trials, and others that have just had 1. Or none!

Ideally, I'd like 2-3 trials with various artists. As above, I'd prefer someone who does hair and makeup. (I can't explain why I don't want separate stylists!)

I only did 1 trial, but I had a clear idea on what I wanted, so had no problem with it. My friend went through 3 different trials with her hair/make up girl!!
@bride2bejc As you know, I love your look, so fingers crossed! If I look half that good then I'll be over the moon!

Dear Bees,
As I never tire of telling you, I'm a UK bride getting married in NY next August. I need to find someone to do my hair and makeup on the big day. I'm going over in November so will have to have my trial done then.
Can anyone recommend someone? If so, do you have any pics of you that I could see? (As in, after they'd got their hands on you!)
