@NYCBride2011:

I was married at city hall last month.  The ceremony was less than 10 minutes.  We exchanged rings and a kiss but we didn’t say our own vows.  Not sure if we could have.  We really didn’t ask since we are still having a formal wedding later this year.  Overall it was a fun day.

My brother got married in City Hall and it was really fun.  There is a super positive energy in the air.  You start by doing the paperwork, then you wait to be called into a small room for your ceremony.  The room was pretty and they had a case that had the huge old books on display – they were old marriage records from like 100 years ago.  The ceremony part was short and sweet, but they did the ring exchange, said their I do’s, and kissed.

HI – we also had a Civil Ceremony and plan to have a larger wedding later this year – you can go to you tube and look at ceremonies there to give you an idea – overall it was a great experience – the vows are done in a few minutes ! If you go to you tube look for weddings after 2008 – when the offices where updated.
