    Hi everyone :)  Which hotels are you guys blocking rooms?  My reception is at Studio 450 in Chelsea (Hells Kitchen area) and there isnt much directly in that area.  We were thinking of just doing midtown east such as the W and I think there is a Hilton there.  I am not sure, BUT those tend to be pricey.  Honestly, I am up for any ideas as long as they arent TOO $$$!  Will they actually extend a discount for room blocks?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

    I blocked rooms at the Downtown Marriott (on west st down in the financial district).  granted my wedding is in tribeca so it made sense for us.  the rate we secured was $160 (i forget how many rooms we had to guarantee though) and they've been extremely easy to work with.  i know it's far downtown from your venue but it might be worth looking into (especially since it's just a ride up the west side highway to your location). i scoured the entire city for nice rooms with reasonable rates and this was the best bet for me.  hope that helps!

    I second mrlie on downtown when it comes to getting a good price. The downtown Marriott or Embassy Suites on Varick have good prices. Even the W in Union Square tends to be available for less.

    I will definitely look into downtown locations.  $160 is awesome!  and its not THAT far from our venue!  Thank you both!

    We have a hotel block at the Gem Hotel in Chelsea for $150.  However, some guests don't like that they only have queen beds.

    I'm also getting married in Chelsea and have had trouble finding a block of rooms in the area. Everything in Chelsea is booked on my date and everything in times square is outrageous because it's so close to Christmas. I second the downtown suggestions. I've been able to find availability and cheaper prices there...

    I had the same problem!  I'm getting married near Grand Central and our cheapest wedding block (discounted) is at the Roosevelt Hotel on East 45th or East 46th street btwn Madison & vanderbilt - HUGE hotel (huge) - and they gave us endless singles, doubles, suites, breakfasts the next morning, etc, for $229/night.  Unfortunately that was the cheapest in the midtown area we could find!!  (although I think there was a Holiday inn near the Empire State Building that we vetoed that was much cheaper but was outside my goal-radius.......)

    Good Luck!!!!

    @futuremrscrawford

    Raddisson Lexington near Grand Central my rate for August was 149/159 depending on double or queen.

    You might want to give them a try!

    I second (or third) the difficulties of finding hotel blocks near my Chelsea reception.  Anyone else have other suggestions?

    Try Hotel Indigo in Chelsea, that's what we're using. The Sales Manager there is Maria Ordonez-Maloney (mmaloney@indigochelsea.com), and she was super-communicative and very willing to work with me. The rate really varies depending on the time of year, but it's a great hotel with a fabulous rooftop bar where we are having our post-wedding brunch.

    We almost had our wedding in NYC and had worked out a deal at the Hudson Hotel on W. 58th Street for $140/night for Standard Queen and $190/night for Deluxe Queen. This was going to be in August, which they told me was their slow time, so I don't know if the rates would carry over but it's worth a try! It's a great hotel although the rooms are TINY!!! Even for NYC LOL.

    I am literally in the middle of this nightmare myself, love the ideas above.  Gave me motivation to keep trying!  However, November seems to jack the rates up a lot!

    Also, I know it's crosstown from Chelsea but we also looked into The Carlton Hotel. It's on Madision between 28th and 29th. http://www.carltonhotelny.com/ They offered us 169 for Full Size Bed and 199 for Queen. That was for August though, so they may quote you a bit higher. I loved the look of the lobby and the rooms were relatively spacious as well!

    Wow, thanks love2lol...I had never even heard of those hotels.  Guess my research skills are not the best!  If anyone is looking for *really* budget in Chelsea...I went to the Chelsea Lodge (actually the Chelsea Suites part next door to it, which are more like someone's ground level studio)...it gets good reviews and is inexpensive.  I think I am only going to recommend it to my younger friends though and not family.
