My boyfriend, (I mean ,fiance!) is from upstate NY,did his Masters program at NYU and taught high schhol in Brooklyn before moving to Pittsburgh and ultimatly meeting me. Needless to say, NYC has been a very important spot to us during our relationship. His brother still lives there, so we visit frequently. We needed a break and some time together as I’ve just recently lost my father, so we decided to meet in NYC after spending Christmas with our families in seperate cities. After all of that background, here is the real story with photos!:
We met up for drinks with his brother in Brooklyn and kicked around a bit upon my Love’s suggestion of visiting the Top of the Rock together. (He secretly already had tickets) We stood in line and laughed and had a great time. (I love 30 Rock and am pretty much Liz Lemon in real life) Anywho, we were taking in the sights of the city when Mr. S said to me that he left a Christmas present for our time in the city. (I thought it was theater tickets!) He handed me a box, it was poorly wrapped so I fussed for a solid 5 minutes getting it open. I snapped and tried to whine about how I couldn’t open it and when I turned around, he was on one knee! On the top of the world! His brother (and now Best Man!) was there to snap away. We spent the rest of the evening knocking back Mai Tai drinks at Otto’s Shrunken head and having the greatest night ever.
Tell me your NYC proposal stories!

Me! On the ferris wheel in Toys R Us, Times Square. LOL He’s nerdy like that. We were going around, and I was looking at all the things on the walls etc. He said, ‘Jess’ and I said ‘what?’ I was still looking around. He said my name again, then I said what again, harsher, LOL. I finally looked and he was down on his knee in the car, I started crying and he asked me. It was funny, very us. The ring wasnt a surprise, I picked it out, but the timing certainly was. He told the ferris wheel operators when we got off and they made an announcement. 🙂 Congrats on your engagement!
We also had engagement pictures done in Central Park 2 days later, it was an amazing vacation.

Engagement location twins! My FI and I are from Canada. NYC was the first trip we took as a couple back in 2009. We went again for our four year anniversary. I suspected it may happen, but after several opportunities (Central Park, romantic dinner, even a taping of the Daily Show, ha!) I assumed it was a no go. Of course, he then proposed that evening at Top of the Rock. 🙂 I think we were there for maybe 10 minutes tops – he couldn’t wait, and after all was said and done I was too flustered to enjoy the view!

Awww! That is such a sweet proposal!
I had a NYC proposal, but not at a fancy location – it was at my apartment at the time 🙂 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgK3cm4miiY&list=FLwVkc66a1uOCVEkMCRVzp8g&playnext=1&feature=autoplay
He was actully going to do it at Central Park with his friend taking secret pics, but when I asked him what he was working on late one night (it was the video), he couldn’t wait anymore 🙂

Nice stories, ladies!
I’ve already shared this once before, but sarahbabs, I, too, have a proposal video. It’s kinda similar!
My husband stood in central park with a microphone and video camera and surveyed people on how to propose to his girlfriend (the video of the interviews was actually the proposal). It’s cute, take a look. (The beginning is in Turkish, but it doesn’t stay that way.)
