Very exciting, congrats! I would check out NY Magazine's wedding edition. They have a tooon of recommendations for florists, photographers, etc. Good luck, and try not to get overwhelmed--no matter what anyone says, you do still have plenty of time an dyou don't need to book anything RIGHT AWAY. :)
hmmmm... what about lighthouses? sand dunes? ummmm.... oh!
arabian theme!!! or genie-ish? (sorry, but the Aladdin movies popped up all of a sudden, lol)
not sure exactly what you're wanting.
You could always go pirate-y, lol ;) cute little messages in bottles, treasure chests (the nice ones, of course), ships' anchors and things like that. It'd be different yet fun!
I don't think that you necessarily have to have a "theme". Just use the colors you want, and it will all pull together. Maybe floor length ivory tablecloths, gold organza overlays, satin baby blue table runners and ivory spray roses and Easter lilies, light blue delphinium and misty limonium flowers in square vases tied with gold ribbon. An ivory or champagne/gold gown? baby blue shoes, gold jewelry? And have BMs wear baby blue, and GM wear baby blue ties.
I am also having a NYC wedding (twenty fourth fifth in Manhattan) let me know if you working with any photographers, etc... that you recomend. My wedding is in June 2011.
I don't think you should have a theme-just as risulli51 said just choose some colors that you like. I went on the Vanderbilt at South Beach website and saw the pictures of the hall and it is very elegant and I think having a theme will take away from the beauty of the space.

So.. I can finally say we picked a venue... YAY!!!l.. So we decided on the Vanderbilt at South Beach for Easter weekend wedding. I loved that the FI picked the location and the date. It's great to see him so hands on when he was so paranoid about being married. With that, he really wants a beach ceremony....
So on to the hard part... I think gold and ivory would look great but he wants to throw in baby blue.. I think it could work however I don't want anything cliche that's associated with beach themes. No seashells, no star fish, etc... So if you have any ideas. please feel free to share them. I want it to feel romantic but chic... lots of gold and ivory with accents of baby blue... What do you think?
Please feel free to email me recommendations on florists, photographers, videographers, anything... thanks
