Have you taken a look at 632 on Hudson? It's this house with a roofdeck that is beautifully decorated. It will easily fit your group and have space for dancing but it does not have in house catering.

Try the Hyatt or new Westin in Jersey City. In early April they probably still have really good rates. I saw the W Hoboken rates in a magazine and they were pretty high I thought. Also you could try the Chart House in Weehawken.

If anyone's considering the W in Hoboken, you should be aware that their event spaces do NOT face the river... I have no idea why, but that's what they told me when I inquired. Their rates do seem excessive esp. considering that you don't get the NYC view.
ChrissyM, I could go on and on about how unreasonable the W Hoboken is. The lacking view, the inability to fit more than 200 people in the room due to the size of the chair they ordered, the price per head vs the amount of food...
and let's not forget that the Westin in Jersey City (the next town for pete sake!) is owned by the same parent company and is way more reasonable!

i'm planning a wedding around the same size (30 peeps), and this might not be your cup of tea, but there are a bunch of yacht/cruise charters that go around ny harbor - one that i was going to look into myself i found off the liberty house's (in jersey city) website is http://www.valiantyachtcharters.com - i havent contacted them, but their food prices looked around your price range

We just started planning a April 2009 wedding in NYC or alternatively New Jersey (Jersey city/ Hoboken) . I am looking for venue for small wedding ( 35-40 ppl) and would prefer to stay in 130-160 pp area. We would like to have dinner with dancing.
Does anybody have suggestions ?
