We’re having an outdoor ceremony in Kentucky in September and I plan on wearing flats with my dress. I haven’t picked my dress yet, but I imagine a full length dress. We’re also having an indoor reception. When I was growing up, it was disrespectful to wear a dress without nylons. But that was in the 70s/80s. Now I wear dresses without nylons all the time. But my mom and sister still sneer at me like I’m so terrible for wearing my dresses and shoes with bare legs. Do you all plan to go bare legged under your dress, or wearing some sort of nylons/pantyhose?

Yup, I’m going bare-legged. Hardly anyone I know wears pantyhose anymore – the times have changed. My mom and grandma think its weird to go bare-legged too.

I probably will wear panythose. I don’t like to wear dresses without them because I hate how my legs feel under a dress. Plus, I don’t like how my Spanx feels against my skin. I also hate to be barefooted in any shoes.

I’m wearing nylons. But I grew up in the 1980s – we wore pantyhose under our shorts during gym class.
I cannot break the habit.

@NewMrsAnderson: Nooooo pantyhose! The only time I would wear pantyhose is if I’m interviewing for a job and I’m in a skirt suit.

Bare legs. In fact, I’m having a bra made into my dress and I hate Spanx so I’ll be completely bare under there. It’ll be a nice surprise for Fiance on our wedding day. 😉

None for me. I’m bare-legged 99% of the time. I only wear nylons to job interviews and sometimes I’ll wear black opaque tights in the winter with skirts/dresses, but that’s more of a style thing than a comfort/respect thing. If anything, I find nylons/tights to be immensely uncomfortable.

Definitely bare legs! I only wear tights with fall/winter dresses and my work suits.
ETA: @Sunfire! Me too — I hate Spanx and I got a bra sewn in.

@Sunfire: Hah that’s what I did! Sewn in bra and no hose. I told him about it about halfway through the reception, his reaction was priceless.

I’m wearing a knee length dress and am NOT wearing pantyhose!

Bare. No question. Hadn’t even considered nylons…

Bare legs! No one will see, plus I’m pretty sure I’m wearing open-toed shoes, and I hate the look of stockings with open toes.

No nylons here. Just think of what a pain it would be to go to the bathroom… you’re already trying not to dunk your dress in the toilet… pulling down nylons/spanx is just one more thing I am not dealing with.

It’s totally fine to go bare legs! Times change, and you don’t want to be all uncomfortable on your wedding day.

Bare legs. I hate wearing hosiery, and the skirt of my dress had lots of layers so I knew I’d be hot enough under there without any additional layers. And yeah, the bathroom situation was complicated enough without having to deal with hose.
