Soooooo yeah. I recently got a couple prices for videography/photography, and I am in complete shock. Like, don’t know if we can do a video b/c it’s astronomical shock.
I wonder if the prices I’ve found are specific to my region or across the board crazy…
Here is one of the ballparks:
Got a quote for video ONLY ranging from $3,700 – $9,000 depending on the package. I don’t even want to think what it’d be with still photography included!!!!!
We don’t need/want all the bells and whistles regarding packages but still, it seems like video/photog is THROUGH THE ROOF. Unfortunately, it’s one of the only things I am willing to splurge on b/c it’s lasting and irreplacable.
Do those prices sound accurate? What were some of the elements of your wedding that you just couldn’t believe the price? Where did/will be willing to splurge?

Am I the only one working on a budget, here??

@BurlapnLace: where are you located? I paid less than $2,000 for my videographer and not one I contacted was anywhere near $9,000. My wedding was in north NJ so everyone I worked with was from NYC or north NJ.

@BurlapnLace: I’m in Toronto and that sounds about right for a videographer. I priced them out from $4500-8500, which made me really sad! I want video, but its value to me isn’t worth the amount it’ll cost.

@BurlapnLace: I think WHEREVER you live, if you’ve never planned a wedding before, all of the prices appear astronomical.
My biggest shockers were live bands costs and photographers – not only the day of but the album production costs. Holy shit. I nearly died.

Yup, these sound about right! If you want a high quality wedding video, definitely expect to pay $4,000+. The first company we asked back in 2011 started at $7K! That’s excessive. We ended up with our videography package that was just under $4k. It included a portrait video (basically an interview of how we started out and got engaged), wedding highlight video, and a full feature film of our day. Definitely worth every penny!

@gelaine22: Our wedding is in Morris Co. and the reception is in Sussex Co. so north Jersey as well. Were you happy with your video and the service? Would you mind messaging me the info or their name so I could look up a website?

My photographer was 2k for 9 hours and most were in the 4-6k range. I thought that was insane! Video is an extra 1.5-2k. I’m not sure I’m going to do it.
While I am working on a “budget” on the small stuff, my wedding is already insanely expensive. I did not compromise on venue or food. Those were the most important things to me and I figure good food, good atmosphere, everythign else will fall into place! Therefore everything else is being budgeted to cut corners.
oh – my wedding is in Philadelphia. My brother was married in Morris County so i feel everyone’s pain!

@BurlapnLace: Are you in the city? I’m having a Philadelphia wedding and prices are definitely high. I expected some to be very high (and they are) but others have come with a bit of sticker shock.

@BurlapnLace: I know, I went through the same thing. We had our wedding Brooklyn NY.
The company for photography and videography we went with was Le Image.
We paid under $5K for 2 photographers, and 1 videographer. The package included an engagement shoot, we got to keep all raw material. Photos were all edited and photoshopped. Video was documentary style. They did a great job and we got great picture.
I highly reccommend them to people who are on a budget. they have a package for everyone

@audrey_lane: Yeah, I’m in the most expensive part of the country. My fam from out of state can’t believe how much things are up here! And forget about buying a home! Though after this winter, I’m revisiting the idea to move down south!
@crackktheskyy: Close to NYC in Morris Co NJ. Close enough for shit to be outrageously priced!!
@Daizy914: THANK YOU SO MUCH I’ll look them up! Were you happy with the services/outcome, too? I’m assuming yes, otherwise you wouldn’t have recommended lol. Do they have payment plans? I may message you later about this. Thanks!!

THe price of Morris County and Philadelphia (in the actual city) are basically the same in terms of venue, and costs for other things aren’t too different either – Philadelphia might actually be CHEAPER in Philly because you can get people willing to drive out who live in places like Lancaster. That was insane to me. My brother had a “rural” wedding and caterer and I was in the city – and the prices were almost identical. Obviously not identical as a wedding in manhattan, but the fact that the county is SO high really shocked me.

@BurlapnLace: john Jae videography

I think that pricing seems accurate. Personally I would want to hire separate videographers and photographers, because I think the work is very different.

@BurlapnLace: wow – yes it’s definitely expensive but I found an awesome photog for $3000 (6 hours of coverage) so your quotes seem a bit high. We’re not having a videographer though, so idk. I have a really good photog that we are using for our wedding, and I researched like crazy a bunch of other great ones ranging from $1000-$3,000, so if you want more info PM me! I’m a photographer so I was super picky as well.
