@REchick:  Nice shoes!

Since July starts tomorrow (Happy Canada Day for the July ’14 bees), we can officially count down!

Updates

  • venue selected (AT LAST).  Had some help from both our moms to convince FI to book.  Here it is:
  • started asking my girls to be my bridesmaids and it was horrible.  My sister and my cousin’s girlfriend declined.  My bestie wants to be in my bridal party but she doesn’t want the MOH honor.  Since she lives in Hawaii, she can’t fully be there for everything.  It wouldn’t be fair.  FI’s goddaughter is a maybe, pending if she’s accepted at this program at Uni. Miami.  At least I have both my FSILs aboard, even though one will get married before I will and the other is currently pregnant.
  • I’m looking into DJs and there’s one that I really like.  However, I think they might decline because of where I’m having my wedding reception.  Most of their clientele host their weddings at the upper end of the Valley’s venues.  Hey, just because my venue is in a fire hall does not mean I want quality entertainment and uplighting!
  • I started a registry list at Bed Bath & Beyond and thinking of the honeymoon registry too.
  • I’m also shopping around invitations at Wedding Paper Divas.  I think I’m going to pick this one (note:  this is only the sample)
  • the dress arrived but haven’t made an appointment to check it out.

And that’s it, as of 6/30/13!

@REchick:  I understand their reasons for it.  My sister felt she’s too old (she’s in her 40s while I’m in my 30s).  My cousin’s GF is in a medical program and that alone is taking a lot out of her.  It wouldn’t be fair if she can’t commit 100%.

So I decided on this:  I’m going to adopt what Jenna Bush Hager and Kate Middleton did with their bridal parties.  I’m going to create a house party for the non-BM girls so they’re still important despite declining being BMs.  Plus I’ll use my 2 oldest flower girls as junior bridesmaids.

Look how cute they look with Pippa Middleton!

I can’t wait til I can stop saying “well it’s more than a year to the wedding…” I am making my FI do something with me to celebrate our “one year to the wedding” anniversary on Friday 🙂 Haha.

So far I have the venue, my dress (!!!) DJ, officiant, transportation, and photographer booked. I’m a bit of a planner. I’ve also asked all my bridesmaids who happily said yes. Currently….working on flowers…. but they are just SO DARN expensive I can barely handle it.

@weatherbug:  which flowers you’re choosing? I think I’m going to DIY my flowers via FiftyFlowers.com. I thought of using fake flowers but after a trip to Michael’s and Dollar Tree, I’ve changed my mind.

I forgot… I also said yes to the dress!

@BeeRod527:  I’m thinking about doing just simple roses in pinks/oranges/corals. One place told me theyre the way to go for a cheaper price, one place told me they’re super expensive. Our venue has HUGE, high ceilings so I feel like I need tall centerpieces, but they’re all quoting me at $200/centerpiece. I want it to look nice, of course, but it seems so silly to spend money on something that’s going to die! AH!

Is quoting you $250 for a bridal bouquet of roses normal?! I think I read that NJ has the highest floral prices in the US.

@FoxyBride14:  We are date twins!

Can’t believe it !! We have already been engaged for over two years, and recently moved the wedding from Sept. 2015 to July 2014, so it’s going to feel so good to finally say X MONTHS instead of X years!!

I think our planning is on track. We have the ceremony and reception site booked, photographer booked, officiant booked, bridemaids and groomsmen picked, going wedding dress shopping later on in the month when I visit back home, contacted caterer, flowers are picked, know what we are doing for centerpieces/bouquets/aisle just have to start collect the materials. We have our honeymoon planned out, but can’t book the flight or hotel until 330 days before the wedding. My engagement ring was a 3 piece set, so I have my rings ready, but need to buy FI’s but we already have it picked out (he refuses to buy it and have it sit in a box for a whole year, don’t know why)

@weatherbug:  I know Jersey is expensive but $200+ for a bridal bouquet?  That’s nuts!

I’m going for yellow (different shades) and ivory roses.  FI knows someone who owns a shop so I can ask how much.  My centerpieces are going to be low.  Here’s my florspiration!

@FoxyBride14:  We knew we wanted it on a Friday, and originally we wanted it to be June 20th, because it’s close to our anniversary and we liked the sound of it haha. But FI’s uncle is the one marrying us and he has church meetings starting that weekend, so the next available Friday he could do it was July 4th, so we just went with it!  So there isn’t any real reason we picked it haha and we live in Canada so it’s not a holiday or anything special. What about you?

@Brace2014:  we wanted the 3rd, but it was booked up 2 years in advance, so we went with the 4th instead. my fiancé said that was the day he realized he loved me, so we just went with it.

@REchick:  I’m probably going to do that a couple of months before.  The rings is one of the last things on my mind right now.
