@STBMrsRoss: omg HI! I didn't think anyone was ever gonna respond to this thread! How exciting :)

So this Wedding Cafe place is in the ward warehouse I guess? I really don't know my way around town, so I've never seen it, but that's not saying much. I live in Lanikai right now but we're actually moving too... back up to Haleiwa at the end of the month.

So are you military? I actually work over on K Bay every day so I almost feel like I am... haha! I'm just a transplant tho, lived here for a couple years now, FI for about 3. What about you guys?

@littlemissmango: I was pretty excited to see another person who actually lives here!

Well I know where ward warehouse is but I've never seen this place. I'm not military, my parents moved out here almost 4 years ago now, wow, I can't believe it's been that long already.. I was in a really bad place back in Virginia so I moved out here with them. FI is in the Navy though and has been out here for about 2 years. That's exciting to be moving to Haliewa, I love it up there. I'm so excited to move, I bought the condo back in December and we have been renovating ever since and it's going to be nice to actually live there!

What brought you and your FI out here?

@STBMrsRoss: Oh wow that's so cool! So tomorrow's moving day then? I love this area, but our rental here absolutely sucks, so I'm really looking forward to moving back to north shore. FI was transfered out here for the company he was working for, before we ever met. We got set up on a blind date over in Oregon (where I was living) by his sister in law who shares a couple mutual friends with me. And the rest is history! haha.

So is it not likely then that your FI will get stationed elsewhere any time soon? Or would you just rent out the condo if you had to move? FI had to do that with his house over in Oregon.

Well, maybe we should plan a little mini-meetup! I do know of one other bee here on island, 808bride, who is awesome but a brand-new mommy so probably doesn't have a whole lot of time to spare to get out and do stuff. But maybe it could work out for her to join us sometime and we can try to all do something together!

@littlemissmango: Newly engaged here (this is my first post!), and moving from Washington DC to Oahu on June 5th. I would love to meet other Oahu bees when I get to the area. Hopefully I'll be living in the Kailua/Kaneohe area.

We haven't decided where we're having the wedding yet-- we're going back and forth between having it back here in DC, where 90% of our friends and family live (and planning from afar) or doing it in Hawaii. Maybe one of you guys can sway me in the Hawaii direction :)

@littlemissmango: We are planning on moving on up there tonight after work, the only we have left to do is take our cats up there. That's a great story of how you guys met. I met my FI online actually and we've been inseparable since our first date.

It's very slim chances that FI will get stationed elsewhere. At least the plan is us not moving until I finish my degree. Which could be a while since I only take 2 classes a semester since I work full time too. :-/ I actually bought the condo before we got engaged, but we will probably end up renting it out if we have to move. I would be really upset if we have to leave anytime soon though. I spend A LOT of time working on the condo to bring it up to living condition. It was really gross when I bought it. Hadn't had any work done to it since 1970. Yikes!

We should plan a little mini-meetup! That would be awesome! What should we do? I would be down for anything really.. beach? lunch? dinner? drinks? wedding cafe? :)

@AutumnElegance: Welcome to Hawaii (almost)! Wow, you'll be out here just in a couple of months.. Kaneohe/Kailua is beautiful, but I'm biased since I'm moving to Kaneohe today!

For your wedding I would definitely look at your budget, because if you want to keep it smaller, I would say have it out here since less people will be likely to travel. But if you want all your friends and family there, then I would opt for having it in DC. I'm having my wedding in CA and planning from Hawaii and it's not as bad as I thought it would be! :)

Ooooh, just found this b/c I wanted to see what Little Miss Mango has been up to!! Yes, I'm recovering from a hazy crazy trip to Newbornville. I'm mobile now. I'd love to meet up with y'all.  Let's meet up. Saturdays, Sundays, Thursdays are good for me.  I've been to Wedding Cafe. There is limited seating but a few good eats close by if it's too crowded. What do you say?? What's your schedules like for  for the week of May 9-15? I have visitors coming into town after that but I'd love to work with y'all.

If you want to meet somewhere else, that's fine. Kailua is so pretty and I live on the west side so I'm flex.

    (My first post - yay!)

I'm an Oahu bride!  I grew up in Mililani.

The Wedding Cafe is great, but the tables inside the cafe are actually for vendors and their potential clients to meet and greet.

@808bride: It IS meant to bee!  Go Trojans!

I hope I can meet other Hawaii bees!  I've been a lurker on Weddingbee for a while before I did my 1st post.  I think weekends are best for me, but weeknights are okay too.

I'm going out of town on the 10th, but I'm free before that and after the 16th. Weekends work best for me or the evenings!

Ok..let's do a Saturday or Sunday in June 11/12 or the next weekend, if possible. I have family flying in toward the end of May. Miss Great Dane will have moved here already and we can meet up with STB before her big wedding day. Could we meet in the Pearlridge area instead? I could spend a little more time  that way. The babe is still young yet and it takes quite  awhile for me to drive in from the far west side. Let me know..I'll be checking in here every few days.

June is actually really good for me! :O)  I can do June 11 in the afternoon or evening (my first dress fitting is that morning!) or June 12 anytime.

Pearlridge is fine with me, but I live on the leeward side too, so I'm a bit biased.

Awww, I just found this post. Wish there were more non-lurkers from Hawaii when I was knee deep in planning. I'm getting hitched in 4 weeks (ACK!) in Honolulu.
