Where are you going to stay in Oahu? I didn't go for a honeymoon but with college friends for a school comp. We stayed a few blocks from the beach in Waikiki. Everything was walking distance and things farther away we took the bus. Honolulu and Waikiki have a great bus system. Buses come like every 10 minutes. Or a cab is easy too. If you want to go to North shore I would recommend renting a car. Depends on what you want to do whether you rent a car or not. But I got around very easily with out a car.
I live on O'ahu, so hope this helps. . . If you stay in Waikiki, you likely won't need a rental if you don't plan on venturing elsewhere on the island--you'll have a blast in Waikiki any way it goes and have everything you might want or need within walking distance. :) Most Waikiki hotels offer valet parking, but parking comes at a (high) premium almost everywhere else.
If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of town, There are two other major hotels: Turtle Bay on the North Shore and Ko'Olina (a Marriott hotel) on the west side. For those, I would definitely suggest having a car at your disposal. While the island is only 25mi x 35mi, it can take a while to get somewhere :) Turtle Bay usually has a better vacation package.

We are thinking about going to Oahu for our honeymoon in November. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place to stay? Anything with a great honeymoon package? Do we need to rent a car?
