I’m getting married next August in Oahu, and am looking for a reception venue that isn’t outrageously expensive. Ideally I’d like a place that allows outside catering. Im also not really into the whole “dream wedding at the Hilton” type affair. More of a diy, rustic, backyard type of feel.

Aloha! I have a great venue for you that’s fits your description above. Check out Sunset Ranch – http://www.sunsetranchhawaii.com. It is a beautiful horse ranch with rolling lawn up in the hills on Oahu’s north shore. Panoramic view of the ocean and sunset. Their venue fee is reasonably priced and they allow outside catering. Lots of pretty photos on their website. Please let them know I referred you! Thank you and good luck – Michelle Garibay Events

Hi there! I’m also getting married on Oahu next year (June) and we found the perfect property for our needs. The biggest catch is that the maximum capacity is 50 guests. But if you need a place for you and your family to stay as well then the price can’t be beat! It’s FREE for events while you’re staying on the property 🙂 The Ka’a’awa Plantation Estate

@allibebeh: Hey! Not sure if you already booked your venue, but have you looked at Queen Emma Summer Palace (allows for outside catering)? Or you can try something different and have it at the Bishop Museum, Iolani Palace, YWCA Laniakea, or even the Bayer Estate. 🙂 I think even the Waikiki Aquarium (which is right on the beach) hosts events and allows for outside catering.
