any oc brides out there who have gotten married or are getting married at oak canyon nature center in anaheim hills?

my fh and i visited yesterday and loved it. however, we're a little nervous about the work that goes into having a reception there- you have to bring in EVERYTHING, inclufing generators!

are there any brides out here that have succesfully pulled off a reception there, or who have had their ceremony there and could recommend a close by reception spot?

OR do you have a similar venue- affordable and outdoors- that you could recommend?

    thanks bees :)

Holy smokes, Mrs. dooks!  I just got married there last weekend! Haha.  I put a long post about it on their yelp page.  We had our ceremony and a "cocktail" hour there after the ceremony.  I can't imagine having the whole reception there--what with having to bring in generators (there are 2 electric outlets around the ampitheater, but i think that's it), only one decent bathroom inside the nature center, prolonged exposure to bugs, and one thing most of family noticed was the incredible amount of dust that builds up on shoes/clothing as you're walking around.  It was great for about an hour and a half, but i really think you'd need to comp some people shoe shines for much more than that.

For the ceremony, it was beautiful though--and the people working there are super nice and very flexible about what they'll let you do as long you don't burn the place down.

PM me if you have any questions!

@shavri:congratulations! and omg! because i totally saw your wedding being set up- hydrangeas and shave ice?! looked like it was going to be a lovely wedding! i went there early in the day on saturday to scope it out and thought your cocktail hour setup was super cute! i think we're over the idea of having the reception there, but would still consider the ceremony if we could find something cool nearby. our only issue is that we really want to have a food truck cater, and most of the places i found within a reasonable drive don't allow outside catering :(

back to square one! will definitely pm you if any questions come up. thank you!!

Wow!  That's crazy that you saw it. Haha.  I briefly toyed with the idea of renting a big ol' house up in Anaheim hills for awhile or somewhere nearby to do the reception, but it got nixed for a chinese restaurant in Cerritos--after all the husband is Chinese.  I vaguely remember some crazy-looking mansion on vrbo.com in Anaheim hills, but really can't remember how much it cost. =P  I definitely think it was outside of our strict budget, but I think it would be awesome to roll up a food truck to a huge house.

    Good luck!

Have you looked at Hillcrest Terrace in Fullerton? It's a beautiful outdoor area, and there's indoor space too. I think the price is pretty cheap; you would rent through the City.

Hello, have your received any more information that would be helpful for the oak nature center?

For those that don't mind, can you share the price of everything (ceremony and reception) vendors, photographers, caterers, etc. and for how many guests?
