I do admit feeling somewhat vain and guilty sometimes just standing in the sun or in the light and watching my pretty diamond ring, (1 ct of flawless diamond, not as big as some of you ladies but so perfect for me) sparkle in the light... makes me all warm and fuzzy. gag..... am I the only one that is that vain???
Funny story: When I was about eight, nine years old, I had these arts and crafts rhinestones. At night I would sit in a corner and shine a flashlight on them because I loved how they glowed like treasure. I thought they were the most beautiful things in existence. I even admired them during the day by draping a blanket over my head.
(I'm still a lady in waiting, but I have a gorgeous garnet ring that I still, after a year of wear, gaze at obsessively)
I'm going to say that it's natural to enjoy beautiful, symmetrical, sparkly things. Otherwise I have serious issues. :P
loveapril...I feel your vanity. I'm the SAME way. I just got my ring on Saturday (YAY) and I can't stop staring at it. Seriously! I was taking notes in class and I kept getting distracted and stopped paying attention to the teacher. :)
My center diamond is .75 ct and and the surrounding diamonds are maybe .1-.2 so I can't even imagine what it's like to stare at a 1ct (like yours) let alone 2 or more!

Yeah, I just got my ring last Thursday, so I sit in class staring down at it... pretty. Lol! I feel kind of ridiculous, like people are going to think I'm looking for attention. I'm not! I just can't stop checking it out.
loveapril, I feel the same way! Mine is an aquamarine (the stone is from an heirloom earring) and sometimes I feel like it looks like different shades of blue in different lights so ALL I EVER DO is stare at it. Whatever, it's a compliment to our FIs!
I totally feel the same way -- and I've had mine for over 10 months now!! Lol! I guess FI did a good job picking the ring! =)
haha i feel like it is a good thing to love your ring so much! the time i always tend to stare at it is when i'm driving because my hand is right in front of me on my steering wheel... probably not a good thing to be distracted by a bright shiny object while i'm driving though lol
Hehe I just got mine last Thursday as well!!! I have a 1.50 center diamond with .30 pave surrounding..........I stare at that baby alllll the time. I love my Verragio <3
I stare at my ring ALL the time!
The worst is when I stare at while driving LOL! I drive with my left hand on the top of the steering wheel and when it catches the light it catches my eye... so bad!!!!

Had mine for 9 months now, and still stare at it. I mostly stare at it at work, while I feel like doing nothing
I do it all the time since I've been engaged in Dec! When I bored at work, I stare at my ring and get a fuzzy feeling and then I go back to work. I do this many times each day at work. I have a 1 ct. solitaire that flawless and colorless and it's ideally cut. My honey definitely did his research and chose quality over size. I love looking at my ring and how it sparkles. I sometimes wonder how long this phase will last.
Sad thing is... I've had the ring since September, you guys have an excuse, you just got your ring... I am still obsessing. lol. But I do agree, its natural for us gals to love all things sparkly and pretty, and it sure is a compliment to our FI's.
mtnshine, your ring sounds gorgeous if you keep getting distracted, and my first ring was a .33 ct, I didn't even dream of a .75 ct so your FI did great!!
@loveapril - I don't think it will ever end - I have been engaged since the beginning of August! At least I hope it won't ;-)
ive been engaged since may 2009.... and i still stare at my ring several times a day :)
my favorite time to look at it is when i'm in an elevator- the lighting in my builing makes it sparkle like crazy!

Oh good, I'm not the only one! I'm cramming for an exam currently, and I make sure to take small breaks to watch my ring sparkle... 
over 1.5 years later I still catch myself staring at mine. I really like having a solitaire e-ring because my wedding band is an embraceable (also known as an enhancer). I love the fact that the 2 rings become 1 & enhance each other...just like FI and I!
God! I love my ring! I am sooo obsessed with it! This is strange because I always wear beautiful jewelry, but there is something about this ring that I can't get pass! When I was showing it off to my girlfriends, each one of them grabbed my hand and stared! Before I received my engagement ring, I would always sleep with the lights off, but now I have to leave a small light on so that if I wake up before morning, I can just look over at it. I don't think I will ever get over it! I've had my ring since Valentines Day. When I wash my hands,use hand sanitizer or apply lotion, I take if off. This ring has never been wet! When I go back for a cleaning, I'm going to check into purchasing a small jewelry cleaning machine (if it doesn't void my lifetime warranty).
Howard and I don't have a lot of money, but he made it his business to get me the most beautiful ring that he could afford. I love him for wanting me to have the best that he could afford and I am going to shower him with my love forever!
OMG - - I have a rose gold eternity band, my e-ring will be ready next week, I twist it and look at it from all different angles making sure that every part of the ring sparkles. I wonder if people watch me? And if they do I wonder if they think I'm a nut? haahaahaa
I love typing with my ring and catching the reflections. *sigh*... I gotta stop obsessing. lol
I'm completely obessed with the beauty of my ring and I love when people compliment me on it. I know that's horrible, but hey I'm being honest here. And I got a new camera for christmas so I've been taking tons of ring photos my first ever too. After 3yrs I still can't help but stare at my ring sometimes like it's the first time I've saw it. And I still love showing it off so I can't resist adding this:
Me too! Stare at it and touch it all the time! Especially when I am driving and the light hits it! It's awesome and I can't help but think of my hubby to be and get so excited!
Oooh! Me too! I've had my ring for almost 10 months and I still enjoy just gazing at it every so often (it never gets old)! I was on an airplane the other day and was gaping at it but had to stop myself because I knew I looked funny just staring at my ring... but with the light coming in from all the windows it was just so sparkly! :-)

Here's Carrie Underwood a few days after she got engaged... She tries to be all "nonchalant" about it... haha ENJOY IT! I know I will whenever I get one! :)
I'd say you're in good company :) The first few weeks I had mine it was seriously hazardous! I found myself looking at it on the wheel while driving... yikes! haha. I've calmed down a little (had it since October)... but I still stare at it several times/day. It's just so pretty!
Oh I am most definitely going to be like this when I get mine in a couple of weeks. I stare at the picture online all. the. time. It's always in a tab in my browser somewhere.
I'm so anxious and excited, it still needs to be re-sized. I picked it out, but I haven't seen it in person...he had it shipped to my house, so it's sitting in a box. TORTURE, lemme tell you. I promised him I would not peek until he gave it to me, so my mother is taking it to have it re-sized.
We joke that my first ring was a piece of yarn, because he asked, first, in his Dad's knitting room and tied a piece of yarn around my finger. I guess he didn't really ask, but he said "In two months, I will get down on one knee...like this...and say...will you marry me? Then I'll put a ring on...uh... (which finger??)" I pointed. "Oh, right. This finger."
What a funny pic of Carrie Underwood! I must look like that allll the time. Mine is one carat (and I agree big for some small for others) I keep staring and thinking how perfect it is :) When you catch it in certain indoor lights, it sparkles like a rainbow. I love staring at it at work as well- what a lovely way to pass the time :)
Now I catch myself checking out everyone's rings, something I never really noticed before. I've seen some gorgeous ones. Yay for shiny things!
I got engaged in November of 2008 and married last December, and I stare at mine all the time! At least once a day I catch myself staring at it.
True story: When I first got engaged I was walking down the hall at work staring at my ring and I walked right into the wall. Seriously, it was SO embarrassing!

Yep I am always staring at my ring! Even after 14 months! I sneak off to my jewelry box every couple of days to admire my wedding band in its box too.
Okay fine, I try the band on with my e-ring at least once per week. And I do dorky things in the mirror like nonchalantly fix my hair with my left hand, just to see how my bling looks. :)
Yes! I stare at my ring while at church, school, when I take it off before I take a bath, while I am waiting at a traffic light. LOL

oh my gosh reading this post makes me laugh at myself. This is a photo I took last summer at a stop light because I couldn't stop staring at how sparkly my ring looked. the picture isn't too great but seriously, how vain could I be?
