Simply ask them for their address and mention that it was lovely seeing them at the party.  Your thank you will come in the mail.  It’s never odd to ask for a friend or family friend’s address particularly if they just joined you for a celebration in your honor.  They will assume it is to formally thank them.

What kind of gifts were they? I always bring a gift to a party (wine, a candle, etc) and would think it’s weird if I got a formal thank you?

Definitely just email them and ask.  No need to do double weird thank-yous.  🙂

If you feel weird about it, you can say you are updating your address book and don’t have an address on file for them.

Also its the time of year a lot of people start thinking about Christmas/Holiday cards.  I wouldn’t be surprised if someone asked for my address in the fall or winter, because I would assume it was for Christmas cards.
