My FI and I went to an antique fair and I was nearly running from booth to booth scoping out mason jars, vases, metal tins, window frames and old doors (ok I probably won't use old doors, but I apparently have an obsession)... FI was just laughing at me. We haven't set an official wedding date yet so I'm trying to not actually GET anything until we do... but at least I know where to find them when we are.
Haha, yep...any time we go to a thrift store (which is a lot...we're thrift junkies) I'm secretly pricing out vases, mismatched china, etc. and thinking to myself, "Dang, that's a lot cheaper than I thought it would be, I am a thrifting diva, f&%k yes inexpensive wedding." We're not anywhere near planning yet (well, he isn't...
) so I'm trying not to get too attached to the idea of vintage-y hodgepodge table settings just in case he hates that idea...but I can't help myself!
Also, I've already got the venue picked out in my head so any time I'm daydreaming about any decor, planning, logistics of the day, etc., I base those daydreams solely around that venue. Hopefully he likes that too...
i think the same way. i found the perfect venu, and wish we could start planning the wedding but we can't because i am still waiting for him to officially propose. that's becoming the most annoying part about waitingfor a proposal. i'm ready to get married to my man. let's GET ON WITH IT! urgh
so glad i'm not the only one. i have a sinking feeling i might change my mind on some of the decor ideas so that helped me from buying anything too but still. lol. i've definitely been pricing things out just so i know what's good to do myself or buy premade. i have been finding projects to do now that may require tools that i'll need for projects i want to do later for the wedding just so i have them and can technically save some dollars in our budget. its a sickness.
@Kant: are you waiting until you get engaged to show him your ideas? i've showed my mister ideas as i come up with them so that's helped. thankfully he's liked most of my ideas so far!
@Kant: Your post cracks me up!
I have things in mind but have resisted the urge for the most part. If I'm thrifting and see something I love anyway that might fit into wedding stuff later I never hesitate to grab it.
Yep! That's why I upgraded my Cricut to the Expression.LOL I'll be using it for baby stuff now, but soon wedding things. :) Hell, right now, I don't care how we get married, just do it! (HE wants a special, big wedding.LOL)
I always want to plan things haha! Everytime I see a pink/gold/ivory picture frame I want to get it for our table numbers haha, it's so frustrating. My SO knows what I would like to see at our wedding and so whenever he sees me staring at possible "wedding items" he has to remind me that we have no place to store all this stuff and that we aren't even engaged yet haha
Of course! When I found out the venue I like is already booked up on Saturdays from May-September 2012, I wanted to book it like yesterday. Unfortunately...still waiting!! I made sure to tell the bf about it though since he likes the place too ;)
It is so hard to resist buying wedding things! I have started buying a few things...a jar for a candy buffet, some paper that I may use in STD's or envelope liners (if not, I'll find something else for it), some props for a faux-to booth (that I already used at a work event) and a few blue Mason jars that are currently scattered throughout our house. I think that's all but I've had to resist buying even more Mason jars until I am sure that I am going to use them.
@tea: Yeah, we're not exactly at the stage yet that I can start talking details with him without him thinking I'm jumping the gun. It's just how he is...when we moved into our current apartment, the minute we signed the lease I started talking about paint colors, curtains, what kind of rug to get...and he said, "Whoa, let's worry about moving in first, okay?" When of course that was the immediate thing on my mind, but I just was more excited daydreaming about the "fun" part. Same with the wedding stuff...if I were to share planning ideas with him now he'd say, "Whoa, let's worry about starting our careers and getting engaged first and then we can talk wedding stuff." *shrug* More time for me to daydream!
@Kant: but thinking of paint colors and rugs is part of moving in! why don't guys understand the entire process? lol
@MsMamaBear: how do you like your cricut? my sister wants to get me one but i can't think of too much to do with it. what have you used it for?
i told my sister my idea for some of the projects and the goober told me to just go ahead and buy the materials. she is such an enabler. of course, i didn't really fight it either.
i understand where you're coming from. i'm not quite that specific, like i don't walk into a store and go 'oooh that looks like a good decoration' but i do find myself looking at colors and wondering if they'd be good wedding colors lol.
that said, i'm not even close to engaged so maybe i'll catch up! :)
I'm guilty of scoping out venues and potential venues that I just run across in my daily life. I'll go in somewhere, and be like, 'hmm, I wonder if this would work for x amount of ppl', or 'this place would totally rock, we could put this here, and that there', etc etc. Or sometimes, driving by some random historical place, I'll sigh to myself a little, thinking how beautiful it could be for a wedding.
Dammit, why won't they just ask us already!
@Kant: i'm threadjacking here, but I just want to say that I really enjoy your SN.

i was visiting michael's today and came across some items i thought would be fantabulous for some of the decor ideas i've come up with for our wedding. sadly, we are not actively planning so i can't work on these projects. i have never wanted to be planning our wedding more than that moment! lol. part of me was tempted to buy them anyway in case i can't find them when we do get engaged but i resisted. thankfully.
though i will admit that i did cave to the urge a few weeks earlier and went ahead and bought some small items for one of the props i wanted for a photobooth [or at least some couple portraits].
anyone else have these planning urges too?
